Mountain Biking - I think I fractured my hand...

Bikeforums.net is a forum about nothing but bikes. Our community can help you find information about hard-to-find and localized information like bicycle tours, specialties like where in your area to have your recumbent bike serviced, or what are the best bicycle tires and seats for the activities you use your bike for.
It hurts like hell and I can't move it barely an inch since it starts hurting too much, the fall was lame too, I was dropping off a fairly easy 1.6mt drop flat to flat cement, but my rear wheel touched a bump before the drop and sent me nosediving towards the floor, I got up, seemingly fine and I almost cried in pain when I tried to pick up my bike lol. Right now my hand is only in bandages though.
These are the kind of accidents one really hates, now I can't ride for who knows how long and I have my left hand immobilized, well, that sucks, I just hope I didn't really fracture it and it heals quickly so I can get back to riding.
I can't express how frustrated I feel right now lol, just when I had the most time to ride this has to happen, man and to think I was almost about to try a 3 meter drop on the local trails.
3 metre = 9 feet....thats a big drop for a rockhopper!
It might not be broken, its hard to tell. If its no better in a few days, get an x-ray, its the only way to know.

I messed up my hand last year. It's probably not the end of the world if it's broken. I felt like I fractured my 5th metacarpal (below the pinky), but it wasn't. The damn thing hurt to the core for 3-4 months. 6 months later it was still tender if I put pressure on the right spot. The doc said the bone was just badly bruised. Hope yours doesn't last that long. It's a bad feeling that such a seemingly little thing will set you back. Good luck.

Whenever I hurt my right hand my sex life suffers abit :(.
Also, I hate injuries like that. Something small but it puts you out for a long time.

I broke my hand, and the doctor gave me a cast, but after 2 days I was sick of it and noticed my hand getting worse. So I took it off, and went with the icing twice a day, and 800mg of ibuprofen every 4 hours. It healed fine, but you should go get x-rays to make sure theres not any bones needing to be set.

It took 3 weeks for my badly sprained thumb to heal up enough to go biking, but even now, almost 2.5 months later, it still hurts a bit. Things take time.
