Well heres the deal, i dont know how to measure correctly
Lets say a steertube of a fork is 6.5 inches
When measuring from the top of the crown to the top of my stem( this is on the bike of course) i get 8 inches. 8 inches minus 1 inch of spacers equal 7 inches (my math teacher says i can still get an eighty after my exam)[these measurments are with the headset on]
so if i remove the spacers will i beable to put a fork with minimum of 6.5 inche, or its not safe?

Do you even know if your bike has a threadless headset?

wait do i? i think so. how can i tell.
Its this one
http://www.canecreek.com/al.html
Or
http://www.canecreek.com/sx.html but i doubt it because theres absolutly no chrome and if my touching sense is right, it didnt feel like steel.

Im pretty sure its the first one, because i cheaked a while back and i remember seeing al and some numbers. ill check it in the morning to be sure.

Wow!

If you're not sure and know that can't take measurements take the bike and new fork to a shop and let the mechanic measure, cut and install it for you.

Don't buy a fork just because it is a good deal. Get one that has the steer tube length you need.

So by removing the spacers you are now at 7". However the steerer on the new fork is 6.5". According to my math you are still 1/2" too short. That's too much unless you feel like buying a new stem and possibly a new headset with a shorter stack height.

Also, keep in mind that by losing the 1" of spacers you are going to be changing your riding position quite a bit. An inch is a big change when it comes to rider position.

Did it really take this long for that to happen?

Everyone makes fun of the bike you bought because they all told you not to buy it. And now you're experiencing the problems everyone warned you about.

heh you know what i find funny? Whenever i start a thread it allways goes down this road because people always bring my damn bike into it. Like in the last few threads of my mine, some person always says some crap like get a new bike, throw this one away... blah blah blah, the same thing over and over again. and then i get warned when i fight back...i think my bike has been talked about alot more than the playoffs. wow.
That's my 20 cents.

im not experiencing problems, for the fork, if i bought a hr sport i would probably find myself buying a new fork too maybe one month later but i would definitly buy a new fork, and my disk brake problem, in the last couple of months could you count how many brake threads there are? PleasE? And count how many of them have a top of the line bike, and then report back to me.

well im an idiot

Remember back when you first called me a ***? Remember how I told you the forumers would turn on you? Remember when you asked for advice on a bike, everyone told you what to get, but you turned your head thinking you were more informed, and got a bike we all told you not to get?

Now you have problems with it, we foreshadowed this.

Reap what you sow.

I find that little statement of yours very irrelevent to the thread topic, Which is me asking for help about how to fit forks.
AND on top of that you prooved my point.

Man people like Kenneth really give 14 year olds a bad rep... then again maybe all 14 year olds are like that in the US (no offense to any united states citizens (I refuse to call them americans... America is a whole ****** continent with way more countries than the US)).

Well those are my "20" cents lol.

I agree, you probably would buy a new fork if you had gotten one of the bikes the members on here recommended. BUT, I doubt it would have been in the first month you bought it. You might have actually been able to ride it for a while, figure out what you like and your riding style, save up then buy a fork to suit your needs. Now you are just scrambling to find any cheap fork that you could throw on your bike.

And as for disc brakes...there are always posts about issues because it seems like people are scared of their brakes. Disc brakes aren't as fragile/magical as everyone seems to believe. And most of the posts about brake issues are generally from newbies or people with lower end brakes.

Obviously you don't watch the Simpsons...I know free_pizza is a fan and that who I was directing the comment toward but didn't you notice that I used nuclear, then used Homer's "DOH" and then spelled the word the way he does (I even put ;) at the end to convey the message)....sheesh...kids!
