can ball bearings have micro flat spots on them to cause them to feel notchy when u spin the wheel, when i took the bearings (loose) out of my hub and cleaned them, then to test there trueness, i let them roll on a peice of glass table, i noted that they roll all crazy like there on crack? can i expect a more trueness from grade 25 chrome steel bearings??

are the bearing races on your hub pitted? if so, that could cause the "notchy" feeling, and also ruin new bearings very quickly.

grade 25 bearing should be a big improvement.

i think someone else said their promax had a similar problem. bearing weren't very smooth out of the box. poor quality control?? if you really care, you could probably get you money back.
too late now wheels are built already! someone sug that i ride them a while and they will break in, then they will get a lil smoother, but not campy smooth.

this is the perfect time to visit the lbs (assuming they don't suck). they should have grade 25 bearings, and pretty cheap. 2.95 for a bag of 25 from harriscyclery. should be around the same price at the lbs.
