Touring - Where are you going on tour this Summer?

Bikeforums.net is a forum about nothing but bikes. Our community can help you find information about hard-to-find and localized information like bicycle tours, specialties like where in your area to have your recumbent bike serviced, or what are the best bicycle tires and seats for the activities you use your bike for.

If everything goes according to plan (and I can manage to buy all the gear that I think I need), I will be doing my first tour late this summer. 70 miles NW of Minneapolis to Chicago or western Michigan.
I can't wait.
I'm leaving Thursday after work to do the ACA Green Mountain Route in Vermont.

doing ~2 weeks along the Danube, hopefully making it to Budapest.
Circle of BC. Nanaimo to Prince Rupert to Jasper to Kamloops to Vanc. 4 weeks. Will the B17 defeat me?
Already a few week in on the Northern Tier
Finishing a tour from the Gulf of Mexico to the Arctic Ocean - 2,000 kms will take me to Tuktoyaktuk in the North West Territories (Canada). This includes the (in)famous Dempster Highway - 740 kms of gravel. Then I'll have about a month to tour Alaska, including Fairbanks, Denali and Anchorage.
I'm ON tour right now actually. Across Canada: Victoria to St. John's. Right now I'm sitting in the office of a dodgy motel I'm staying at in Brandon, Manitoba. I'm taking a longer route than most, hitting all the provincial capitals of Canada on my way, and going out of my way to see neat stuff I hear about as I go along. So far it's been 3300km.
I'm on day 32 right now and have had headwinds ever since I got out of the Rockies (today was only the second day of tailwind) and I've spent 17 days in rain... despite it all, I still love the trip. The whole thing has been an amazing experience. Good luck to everyone setting out!

Was going to return to Maritime Canada and ride Newfoundland and Labrador but getting married and moving to Canada instead. So our honeymoon will be a six day tour starting in my soon to be home town of Nelson BC, to Kaslo, Trout Lake, Nakusp and back to Nelson. If you have never been to this part of Canada, you owe it to yourself.

Please tell me about Route 6. How's the shoulders? Sights? Camping? Etc., etc. PA is my home state (I now live in FL), and I may get back there for a multi-week visit soon.
Thanks,

Been riding for a long time (35 years), but going to do only my second RAGBRAI this year. Had a blast on my first last year, so I decided I'm going to make it an annual event for me.

I'm supposed to go to CA, but I'm thinking that it might be the route too far. Next year I'm going to do part of the North Sea Route. England, France, Belgium and Netherlands.
Probably I get the two weeks vacation in the second half of October. In this case we are going to tour of southwest coast of Turkey. I hope it will be something like this (http://jinonbike.narod.ru/Turkey/turkie_index.html) (the report is in Russian).

i'm a bioregionalist approaching "Prairyerth" when i plan many vacations. there's sooo much to see where i live, there is no need to go far away.
do 36'ers and two and a half dayers count? i don't have any big blocks of time to tour this year.
I have about 30 days of touring in this year so far though. Overnighters, weekenders, 3 and 4 dayers, including a 3 day ski trip on my bike last weekend. I've done many miles of beautiful touring in 2006 close to home, door to door over a long weekend.
for any Washingtonians, i've been loaded bike camping so far this year to Port Townsend (3 times and counting, love that town!), Whidbey Island, Snoqualamie Pass, Chinook Pass, Olympic Peninsula to Salt Creek, Mountain Loop highway- twice? Hood canal. Dungeness Spit. and a few other places, im forgetting. Probably a couple thousand dedicated touring miles so far this year.
With a three day weekend in aug or sept. I will ride from seattle to the top of the North Cascades highway and back to Seattle. a GREAT 36'er weekend ride out of seattle is across the olympic mountains, Seattle to Port Angeles, to Quilcene and back to Seattle. will ride that in a few weeks but the summer snowskiing season is just getting good.

From Boston up the coast of Maine to see some friends. It will be my first tour, but it's a pretty easy area and it's full of people I know and friends to call if anything goes wrong, so I'm looking forward do it. it's around 200 miles (what is that, 320km or so?) in 3 days
If anyone has any tips, I'd love to hear them!
I'm giving more serious thought to heading down 101 from Seattle later in the season. My first loaded tour, at that.

you should try the STP (Seatle to portland) if you haven't already. I'm doing that and then taking a day to get to the coast then taking 101 down to san francisco.
