Classic & Vintage - diamond back mtb info?

Got an old mountain bike and wondering if I can get any information about it.

Decals say "Diamond Back" rather than the newer "Diamondback" which might be significant.

Frame/fork are all chrome. I can't find any model name on the bike; the only large decal is one on the downtube saying "Diamond Back" in pink cursive.

There are two stickers on the seat tube: one says that the bike is all chromoly with Tange double-butted MTB tubing, the other saying made in Taiwan/designed in USA by Diamond Back/ all chromoly.

Derailleurs are Shimano Deore. Sakae SX triple crankset with MTB gearing.

The top tube is level with the ground, which I don't think has been done on mountain bikes for a while.

So anyone know anything about this bike? age/quality/etc?

I think it's from the '80's, a good quality mountain bike. I believe the Diamond Back/Diamondback thing is insignificant, as it was the same brand, just a change in the way they spelled it. I'm not terribly familiar with these (although I did own one once), so there could be more to it than that, I'm not positive. But again, the frame you describe and the components indicate a good quality bike (not top of the line, but not the low end, either) from the time period.

My Diamond Back was made exclusivly for WSI in Camirillo CA.
Diamondbacks were made for Raleigh of America I think.

Diamond Back was used well into the early 1990s. The rights to the name was purchased in 1999 by Derby International, which was the company that owned Raleigh. The all chrome frame sounds mid-1980s. I suggest you check the date codes on some of the components.
