Folding Bikes - Holding folded Swift together

Bikeforums.net is a forum about nothing but bikes. Our community can help you find information about hard-to-find and localized information like bicycle tours, specialties like where in your area to have your recumbent bike serviced, or what are the best bicycle tires and seats for the activities you use your bike for.
I am looking for the best, or a good, way to hold a folded Swift Xootr together and also minimize scratching. If you remove the head post and perhaps pull the front wheel, both easy, you have 2-3 pieces to carry. Are velcro strips or small bungee cords suitable? Is there a way that the cords or velcro can also pad the parts to minimize scratches?

I use big velcro straps. I do sort of a figure eight with the velcro that helps pad it. I've also put some electrical tape where there is likely to be contact. That will be removed soon as I am going with some thing plastic that sticks on contact like the 3M protective film they use to protect car hoods.
