So about 2 weeks ago i was riding my bmx just messing around and bumped my right knee on my handlebars, no big deal ya know. It just barely hit my bars and i figured, oh well ill get a small burise and it will be fine in a day. Well that was around 10 am. I rode my bmx till about 12 noon. Then ran some errands around town walking and rode my fixed about 3 miles to work pedicabbing. As soon as i started pedicabbing my knee started to hurt, and i mean really hurt. By the end of the night i was riding around with my right leg streched out and pedaling with my left leg.

I talked to my nursing student friend and it seems like there is a set of tendons that go over the knee cap, one on the left of the center and one on the right. THe next few days were really painful. I could put my leg into any position and it was fine as long as it wasnt moving, but any movement would hurt. Over the last week it only feels uncomfortable when i bend it all the way, and it just feels like the tendon is stretching out wayyy too much.

Anyone have this problem? It feels like ill be fine within a week or 2 but i was just wondering if anyone has had to deal with this?

yeah, same thing happened to me a little bit ago, but not as extreme. i focused more on pulling up on the pedals with the leg that hurt. if bending while off the bike was a problem, i slowly did stretches to loosen the tendons. also, i've found that with any knee discomfort, quad stretches are great. you might have to work up to them here, though.

brakeless or brakes is the question I have for you if you are running brakeless you can work you knees pretty hard and being bruised make them really inflamed the best thing I have found when I have to ride after hitting my knee in any way is tiger balm and a hot shower take a hot shower let it relax then put tiger balm on it and go

also works good for inflamed rotater cups I have a reall zinger on my left side from years of abuse

Coincidentally, I just just recovered from the same injury; I couldn't bend my knee without pains and icing and wearing a knee brace did little to help. I was seen by an orthopedist who suggested time off as the cure but its hard when biking is your transport. It took me about 2.5 weeks to fully get rid of any pains...I think mine came about on my right knee from bumping the inside knee cap with my bike's top tube on a dismount. It's really suprising how gentle the blow was, but how painful it became.

Yeah I have some whack sh*t like that going on but a little different. I've got this not cool popping sensation going on that makes my kneecap feel almost black and blue on the inside. Dr on wednesday though.

YES that is exactly what is going on with my knee. My knee feels a lot better. I took about 1.5 weeks off with no bike riding, then just kinda got back into it. i think it is fine now but am super worried about just even tapping my knee on anything and it happening all over again.

Whatever the details are as far as whether its a tendon pulled or a muscle pulled there is one rule: you need to give your body time to heal and stop using that knee! There is no such thing as "riding off an injury" or just "toughing it out." You try to be tough and 99% of the time your going to make it worse or even cause permament injury to that body part. This is just the way our bodies work. I've had the same kind of problems before and unfortunately the only way to heal is time. Stay off the bike for a couple of weeks; if you're young your body will usually fix these kind of minor injuries.

/not a doctor, but this has always worked for me
