I just realized that I have been putting quite a few more miles on my bikes than on my car. Around a hundred a week on my bikes and around 20 on my car. Do you ride more or drive more?

Sadly, I drive more...about 70 miles in the car and 40 on the bike.

I have about 450 miles on my bike for
the last 4 or 5 weeks and about 85 at
most on my car.

I rode my bike about 25 miles to downtown
Los Angeles Union Train Station today and
took the Metrolink with my bike onboard
back to Covina and rode home from there.

All around a nice trip. If it hadn't been
so hot I would have ridden home too, but
the first 4 miles out of LA back to my house
are all uphill and resemble a foreign nation
inasmuch as all the illegals were out drinking
beer on the parkways adjacent to Huntington
Drive and I was sort of afraid of getting 'jacked,'
beaten and my bike stolen.

If it had been a bit cooler I would have
probably just ridden home though.

I put about 2,600 miles a year on my bike and about 2,300 on my car. I may but a lot less on the car, because some proportion of those miles are from my wife borrowing it while hers was n the shop. I put about 30,000 miles a year on my airplane, but that's a different story.

This subject is something that I just realized this past week. I have only put about 22,000 on my car since 2000. That's about 3,600 miles a year. I'm on pace for 5,000 miles on my bike for this year. Being retired the past couple of years helps.

In the summer I ride more than drive. I put about 5,000 miles on my car in a year, about 3500 on my bikes. In the winter months I usually only ride once or twice a week and they are shorter rides.

Day by day I put more miles on my bikes than the Pacifica but periodic trips down to Salem to visit the grandkids keeps the yearly total a bit higher for the car.
