Bikeforums.net is a forum about nothing but bikes. Our community can help you find information about hard-to-find and localized information like bicycle tours, specialties like where in your area to have your recumbent bike serviced, or what are the best bicycle tires and seats for the activities you use your bike for.

I'm new, just found this website, and I'm excited to find a source of wisdom on bikes. I'm 53 and have been riding for about 5 years fairly seriously. Also I lived on a bike as a kid(Sears Flightliner). I've done the New York City 5-boro bike ride for the last three years, and am very interested in commuting . I ride one way to work(@13 miles) pretty often, and with gas prices probably never going down, I'm thinking about how I could possibly commute more of the time. I live in East Granby,CT, and commute to West Hartford, and my wife works in same building , so I have a ride home. My bike these days is an aluminum 24-speed LLBean hybrid made by a Canadian company (CCA?). It's a good bike but pretty heavy. Looking forward to talking with all of you.

Welcome to BF.
I'm 61 and bike commute year round. The commute to my last job (2001-2003) was 14 miles one way, but that was back when I was a kid of 56-58. ;) My current job is only 8.5 miles one way. :(
