Recumbent - Slyway Recumbents

Bikeforums.net is a forum about nothing but bikes. Our community can help you find information about hard-to-find and localized information like bicycle tours, specialties like where in your area to have your recumbent bike serviced, or what are the best bicycle tires and seats for the activities you use your bike for.

I've never seen these before:

Looks like you probably won't as they have dealers only in Italy (one in France). Looks like a Bacchetta/Volae variant, nicely done with Italian design flare. Not clear what the frame is made of but the ancillary parts are certainly top notch. Lots of carbon, good wheels. Be interesting to see a weight and price. I would guess mid '20s
on weight. Price???

That'd be cool as a frameset, IF the price was right. I'll have to keep them in mind, 'just in case.'

On their web site under the TECH section:
Depending on componets,
Enjoy 15 kg, $1490 to $2190
Explorer 12kg, $1690 to $2490
Ultrateam 10kg, $3790 to $4090

1 kg = 2.2 lb
Other than the Ultrateam, those are some fairly heavy bents.

especially for how much they cost. not to mention how much it'd be to ship to the US.
Actually the weights are about what you would predict for Volae and Bacchetta variants given the frame materials and accouterments though the 10kg weight is lighter than the Bacchetta Aero (ti frame on Bacchetta) unless you go on a weight chiseling spree at $50/oz of weight pared off. It is very hard to get bents to weigh under 22-25# just as it is hard to get DF under 18#. It can be done but is $$$. For bents under 20# costs are usually in the $4500-6000 range and DF under 18# are $3000 and up although there are a few less than this.
