I just got a Giant XTC SE2. I custom fitted some MPH-3 disk brakes on it in the shop, and switched to some no-cleat SHimano pedals (pd-mx30)

Byt that's beside the point. Any tips on hardtail jumping, like the do's and don'ts... and which wheel should I land on etc.? I'm new to the XC biking scene but I'm a nutcase, so I'll try anything.

Start small, and gradually build up to bigger and bigger jumps. If landing to flat ground, land with the rear wheel first or both at the same time. If you're landing on a decline, land both wheels at the same time, which means your front will be lower than your rear. Use your legs to absorb the impact. If your take off is screwed, your jump will be screwed, make sure you're straight on take off and you pull up equally with both hands. Once you're in the air, you can turn twist etc to make the bike do different things!

BTW, wear pads and a helmet, you WILL crash!

First of all your going to kill yourself......try to land on both wheels at the same time, or the back wheel first, never the front.

Find a dirt jump park and play. Get comfortable being in the air and landing on different sized trannies. At least then you have a controlled area.

Otherwise everything a2 says holds true. :)
