within the last week or two i've met these interesting people. a guy who does the mt. tabor criterium here, a touring cyclist on his way to the gorge, several groups of people stopping by the skatepark and passing joints and beer around while going on a scavenger hunt.
but my two favorites: the girl who looked like your average girl who just graduated high school, but wanted to talk about nothing but fixed gear bikes and what the best parts were--"what sort of cog do you use? eai? how do you like it?"..."deep v's, aren't those supposed to be very durable?"--just to get a little help on a build she's embarking upon soon.
number two: this one's pretty badass. i was at a graduation party for a friend of my girlfriend. she had a relative there in his mid-50s. when he saw the track bike i'd ridden, he commented that he rode a track bike as his main transportation for 15 years when he was a little younger. i wish i'd had more time to ask him about his bike and hear him reminisce about beautiful vintage track bikes and stories. still....definitely a badass. track bikes on the streets long before many of us were around.
