Singlespeed & Fixed Gear - Flip/flop hub Q

Bikeforums.net is a forum about nothing but bikes. Our community can help you find information about hard-to-find and localized information like bicycle tours, specialties like where in your area to have your recumbent bike serviced, or what are the best bicycle tires and seats for the activities you use your bike for.
Is it possible to convert the "free" side of a flip-flop hub to "fixed"? I'd really like to get a set of IRO hubs, but I need a fixed/fixed hub.
Thanks.

Sorta but it generates a ton of debate. Search on Suicide hub and find a million threads about it.
I have an IRO fixed/fixed hub so you may just want to contact IRO directly.

of course you can. whether you should is...well...it's up to you, there's a lot of info out there, and a lot of variables. search suicide hub, bumbike, ummm...yeah. rotafixa. that, too.

I'm confused.
If you want a set of IRO hubs and need fixed/fixed, why don't you just buy fixed/fixed?
I missed that option on the website. Never mind...

i dunno, i've thought about this before...i'm ordering a pair of those cheap wheels off bicycle wheels.com to run on my next bike until i can afford some better hubs and rims, and they will then become the beater wheels to get traded around from bike to bike as needed. those only come in fixed/free, so i've debated how i'll use that free side.
i thought this might be something along those lines.
