I`ll be baking pancakes today, i think it`s one of my favorite after -biking -food.
They contain a lot of carbo -hydrates and protein, so your hungry feeling after biking disapears fast.
But the biggest plus is the taste
Mama mia, i love them

Me, too, Mark. Wish I could sample the pancakes. When you say you bake them, do you mean actually in an oven, or do you mean on a griddle (or in a pan)? I do mine on a griddle. I like honey on pancakes! (Now I'm getting hungry...)

I love pancakes too! I'll use any excuse to "reward" myself and go to the local greasy spoon to order some. I usually get the blueberry buttermilk pancakes.

If my next few posts look funny it's because I'm salivating into the keyboard...

Nice to see other pancake lovers, Jonr, i bake them in a pan with hot vegetable oil.
Have you tried powder sugar, treacle (sorry dictonary word) or even better a cheese pancake.
Aerobat, buttermilk is the best

Yes, yes, tried them all! (Treacle in the US is molasses.) Cheese pancakes are wonderful. There's no end to the possibilities...

Umm!

My fave: Whole wheat buttermilk walnut banana cakes from scratch. Real maple syrup and a big cup o' the darkest joe I can brew. A little fatty, but just the thing for all day mtb rides.

Do you have really thin pancakes which you roll up, or the smaller thicker ones?
In the UK the style is for very thin ones, which we flip over in a throwing action.
Pancake races are an anual event in most towns and villages, a 100m dash, tossing a pancake in a pan the whole way.

one of our more difficult rides is up a really steep grade to Lake Wolford. I usually have Cream of Wheat and toast on a ride, but at Lake Wolford, must have the Apple Cinnamon pancakes. They are wonderful.Real apples. It is like a 2,000 ft. climb, deserve a treat.

I am reading this just before breakfast!! Yum!!

I like pancakes with nuts in them, covered over by low-cal vanilla yogurt with fresh fruit (or frozen, if no fresh available) such as blueberries or strawberries or peaches on top.

Sadly, I will probably eat oatmeal this am!!

Most Americans make thicker cakes. 1/4-1/2" and 6-10" round. Stack a few and your'e ready!

Last night I got home from school. I didn't have to much to do so I was lucky enough to get a nap in. I was only woken up to go eat dinner which was my moms world famous egg pancakes (they are the really thin ones that you roll up). It was heaven, ohh on top of that I had the best workout of the year after that (yeah yeah I know it was only three days in but it was still good). :D   :D

Protein in pancakes ? How do you accomplish
that small feat, put in bacon/sausage/ham bits ?
The little protein from the egg yolks are about all
there is, and it pales in comparision to the amount
of carbohydrates from both the pancake and syrup.
Pancakes are CARBOS pure and simple.

Thanks...now I have an uncontrollable urge to eat pancakes. I have to go to the kitchen now and make some. This is going to take away from my time that I could be using to read all the threads I have missed. You people are a BAD influence! :p

I will be back later after I gorge myself on pancakes, hopefully I will not OVER eat...LOL

Gosh that takes me back. Ted and I were doing an organized ride and it was cool and wet. We rode along and we got hungry. But it was Sunday morning and everything was closed. Finally we came to a good ole greasy spoon and stopped. We got up to the counter (the truckers loved us because we had small gnats plastered all over our wet faces). We each ordered the pecan pancake. Those suckers covered the whole plate and filled with nice crunchy pecans YUUUUM. It was wonderful. We got back on our bikes and it was like all the carbo had been dropped right into our bloodstreams. We barrelled down the road for the last 15-20 miles. Gosh that was fun.
