Foo - What did you do when the forums was down?

Bikeforums.net is a forum about nothing but bikes. Our community can help you find information about hard-to-find and localized information like bicycle tours, specialties like where in your area to have your recumbent bike serviced, or what are the best bicycle tires and seats for the activities you use your bike for.

Degrease and lube chain
Clean cassette and chainrings
Adjust the brakes
Had drunken sex with a good friend(a girl, for the record), felt really awkward afterwards

I had to find other stuff to do online, which helped to prove my theory that I have finished the internet (with a high score too). Then I read a book for a bit, talked with some co-workers, and browsed through some stuff from Sheldon Brown and uh.. I forget. But I know it sucked.

What one of you had to do the 'walk of shame' home?

Man, there's nothing worse than waking up in the morning, realising you've made a bed friend boo-boo - but you're still a little hungry, and don't know whether you've got enough time before they wake up to make yourself some toast and coffee, then run out the house screaming!!

(Or it is only me that's gone through that?)...

In the 36 hours that I've been off bike forums, I've:

1. Packed up almost 1/4th of my stuff for moving.
2. Lost 3 pounds of fat from running around.
3. Completed the other half of my 1800 page novel.
4. Redesigned a HVAC system for a 500,000sq.ft office building.
5. Attended two international conferenecs on genetically modifed rice.
6. Taken apart and thoroughly cleaned the two turbofan engines on my lear jet.
7. Finally patched up that plasma conduit leak so the warp core breach light on the dash would stop flashing.
8. Fathered 8 children.

Pretty much I sat around looking at mountain bike forks....and debating between fixing up my roadie, or upgrading the mountain bike. Either way I'll spend around $400.

A few more of us including myself did as well.

After arguing with my computer I vaulted our of my apartment in a heated rush and no doubt set a personal best in commute time the first 5 miles until I settled down. :D

Of course the World Cup help my withdrawal somewhat.

Are you sure it was a plasma conduit leak? Maybe you should reset your dilithium crystals, or that light's just gonna keep flashing and drive you crazy.:D (LaForge's Warp Drive For Dummies)

I spent the weekend in LA (Lower Alabama) riding dirt roads, firelanes, back roads. More dirt roads than paved and almost no traffic. Got back home, fired up Safari, got some scary message about the forums being down(my home page is Bikeforums.net). Went and fixed myself a Scotch, cleaned the bikes again.

Checked BF, still down. Had another Scotch(this Lagavulin is good stuff). Went to work, checked BF. Still no forums. Ate a big bag of Skittles and drank more tea. Still no forums.

Consulted the 8-ball. http://cache.kotaku.com/gaming/magic8ball.jpeg

Concentrate? How can I concentrate when the BF is down?

Things were looking pretty gloomy; no BF, no more Jelly Bellies, and the BF was still down.

Can't you get a student loan? I was able to get one last year and I have no real credit history. Have you contacted your college's financial aide center? There are usually resources available to help you out. Sorry if you tried all this.

i'll be getting the stafford loans of $10,500... then i may get lucky and get some grants... i filed my fafsa on janurary 10th but didn't get it to UTD til june 15... so i may not get so much for grants... i've tried private loans and no one will loan to me without a qualified cosigner... i don't have any that are qualified... and i've asked for a signature student loan from salliemae.com... i won't know about that for a day or two.

Had enjoyable conversations on gabbly. Had a depressing day at work with my reaction going awry, but no Foo subforum around to vent on. To help the day pass more quickly, butted in when my prof passed off a prospective future grad student to a grad student to talk to. (Long story.)

It is indeed hot here today. Mid-90's with that wonderful Southern humidity.

There's also lots of dirt roads/fire lanes, etc. around Tuscaloosa with rolling hills. The gas and oil companies have gates that block off a lot of these but you can easily get your bike underneath and then ride by yourself for miles.

Up here in Huntsville, it's flat then a mountain, then more flatness. Supposed to be some good mountain biking at Pisgah near the Georgia border. If you ever get over this way, shoot me an e-mail.
