I sold my old Tomasso to someone at that shop

I like the way the tilt on the seat lines up really nicely with the dropped stem...

The rear wheel is frickin cool though

So does this shop sell anything bike related or are they just a clothing store?

That is one repulsive frame geometry... And a ****ed up saddle tilt. Somebody should go and grab the seat cluster lug and pull it back 4 or 5 inches. Then it would look like an actual bike...

I want the rear wheel, though. Badly. What is it? The shop had a plastic (carbon?) disc chromed?

you need to take another picture of that bike with one more bike reflected in the rear wheel, or the ocean or a nice pair of tits ... or a mountain.

So does this shop sell anything bike related or are they just a clothing store?

They sell hard to find bike parts as well as being a clothing store. The owner, Oliver, rides track and fixie and and goes to Japan a lot to bring back rare clothing lines and hard to find bike gear.

BTW, that's one of Oliver's bikes, not mine.

The disk was originally brushed aluminum, they had it sanded, buffed, polished, whatever... to a shine.

Pink + Powdercoated deep V's = 2 fads in one. All the timeless style of a hypercolor T shirt.

Ways you can tell whoever built this doesn't know diq about bikes:

-Disk wheel ridden on street (WTF for?)
-Near-vertical seat tube ridden on street (WTF for?)
-Seat set up for looks, not function (does he point his seats up if he rides a MTB with a positive angle stem?)
-32 spoke radial front (The point of a radial front is to save weight. So obviously one would go with lots of spokes and a high flange hub.)
-Valve stem cap on presta valve

If you go to the flikr stream these pics came from, you will see a bunch of other silly bikes from this clown squad. i.e.:

Hate patrol in full effect. Remember dolface's 3rensho?

I don't recall quite the hate parade on that piece.

Definitely having a nude of some sort reflected on that wheel would be the bomb.

that panasonic kind of sucks pretty hard...that seatangle is just dumb. The ****in front wheel is garbage. I would have to say the cranks are ****in rad...but then they thought they were goin to climb some mountain pass in Baltimore and drilled the chainring. The rear wheel ****in rocks but that is all you guys got.

edit: I take back everything...I just saw the site, those guys and gal are ****in rad!

06-21-06, 09:51 AM
The only things Dolface's 3rensho has in common with this bike is the near-vert seat tube and the radial + high flange front. On the first issue, D-man has it geared for track (though he may ride it on the street too, no skin off mine). As for the wheel I can't see what those rims are, but I'm guessing that unlike deep v's he couldn't get them drilled in any multiple of 4 from 16-40, and I'm just not going to talk smack about that hub.

I know the story on the first bike. It was built from parts laying around the shop. It wasn't a show piece.

It's funny. This shop is bringing hard to find parts from JP and making it available in a store where you can just walk in and get it plus they are making clothes and gear FOR YOU (whether you like it or not) and you are hating on them.

If you don't like it, why don't you call/email them suggestions on how to make it better instead of spitting on it. You know, it could be worse. No one would care to import or design fixed/track products then you'd b1tch about that: "Why doesn't someone make stuff for us?"

WTB: Nuovo Tipo/Nuovo Gran Sport hubs

Edit: Landgolier, I wonder how you are gonna get those "Nuovo Tipo/Nuovo Gran Sport hubs" that you are looking for. Maybe this shop can get them for you. But, wait. If it were up to you, they would go out of business. Oh well.

If the dude wants to import parts from japan and make a buck on the trend, have at it. I have no interest in specialty japanese parts, at least not at the prices they're going for. And if the shop wants to build ugly bikes out of misguided parts (still waiting on somebody to justify that front wheel), party on wayne. Heck, I don't even care that much if a they want to take silly pictures of themselves trying to look like bada$$es and post them on the internet as a "look book", though if they do that they ought to know that they're going to be mocked.

"they are making clothes and gear FOR YOU"
--Whatever I said that sounded like "someone PLEASE make me a pink hoodie with 'fixed gear army' on the front and 'skid and destroy' on the back," I officially take it back. Sorry for the misunderstanding.

Do these guys actually make bike stuff? All they have on their site is a bunch of clothes, mostly stuff that wouldn't be any good for riding. You'll never hear me make fun of a company that actually makes decent bike parts, but as far as I'm concerned these guys are a bike company like Pacific Sunwear is a surf/skate company.

BTW, if these guys actually have 70's campy road hubs, tell them to call me. Somehow I kind of doubt it.

From some style website:

"the shop changes every season, right now it's done up in a full track bike theme, complete with floor tracks and racing murals. if you're into track bikes you'll love it, if you don't know anything about it you might not get it right away. last season was military, very cool bunker type vibe."

Bargain hunter alert, in like 3 months when something new is trendy we should be able to score some closeout deals.

Pink bikes are a fad? Hm...news to me. Let me set my "need to listen to others" receiver on high. I cannot believe I didn't catch this earlier.
Thanks SOOOO much for pointing this out. Now I can avoid being part of a fad by joining another.

Please -
Track bikes on the street over all is a fad.
Thinking you need XTR/Dura Ace for a rec bike is a fad.
Wearing lycra jersies is a fad.
Posting on bikeforums is a fad.
Complaining about fads is a fad.

Landgolier, if it pains you so to look at this bike, don't look. Just move on to the next thread.

That's my point. I'm not OG, for all I know these guys were tightening lock rings back when I was 13 and trying to figure out how to replace my rollerblade bearings. I'm mainly just interested in how functional things get adopted as fashion. On a certain level, some 19th century miner could make fun of my jeans based on the same criteria that I make fun of these guys' bikes. My jeans would suck for mining, but they are pretty good for keeping my butt covered and not looking too dirty even when they are, which is what I use them for. The bikes in those pics suck for riding, but are really excellent for looking cool. While I respect that these guys make $$$ and gain respect by looking cool more than by riding, my personal aesthetic still says "F--- that."

If you're gonna ride that thing anywhere, you'd better be able to do backwards 360's no-handed, or be very, very faaaaaast. Otherwise, you're just setting yourself up.

As a piece for show, the disk is incredibly striking, and the colors are nicely coordinated. The glaring mis-match of track/street does throw me, though... I want to see a white tri-spoke aero front wheel.

See? Thought and analysis without knee-jerk stupidity. It's not so hard.

Project bikes are like project cars. Some hit the streets (or the track) daily, some only on Sundays, and some only on special occaisions.
