I plan on creditcard touring from my home in columbia SC to my summer camp in cedar mountian NC. I plan on taking 4 or 5 days to travel the 140 miles. How much money should i alot per day, id like to travel as light as possible, ie no tent, only snack type foods. Even though i know that will be harder on the wallet.
if you're fit, you could do that in a day and not need any more money than for food. a lot of people would do that distance in 2 days. 3 days and 2 nights is a very leisurely pace. if you're trying to be thrifty, you can eat at grocery stores instead of restaurants and check the internet for youth hostels or cheap motels along your route.
Est at a resturant:
$10 -- resturant
$15 -- Lunch
$20 -- Dinner
Lodging always varies.
Est $40-100 depending on area unless you like rats. Youth hostels are cheaper and a good option. So can campground cabins without water. They may come sans sheets so you'll wanna check that out beforehand.
Est: $5 for munchies and drinks.
Is there a reason why you would take 4-5 days to cover 140 miles? I'm guessing there must be a lot of attractions along the way that you want to stop and see. Otherwise, you could cover it quite easily in one day ... if you wanted to save some money on accommodations and food. If you allotted 2 days (1 night) for the trip, that would be quite a relaxed pace ... you'd only be on the road 5-6 hours a day.
However, I'd second nm+'s estimate of the cost each day for as many days as it takes you.
