Singlespeed & Fixed Gear - Minneapolis/Chicago

I will be in Minneapolis from the 22nd to the 28th and Chicago from the 29th to the 3rd. I plan on doing some digging for a rad set of cranks and a new stem while I'm in cities that actually stock track/fixed gear parts. What shops should I check out? Are there any big events going on during those days that I should check out? It's too bad I can't bring my bike with me.

Those are on the list. I'm going to try to hit Yojimbo's in chicago too, but I'll have to play it by ear.
I'm also down for Rock or Hip Hop shows in either city. By rock I mean people who can actually play not some crappy noise show in someone's basement.

You don't have to travel across the country to find bike parts.

You can find "IT" on eBay.

Take it from me I've been a member / shareholder for over 7 years. No shop can compete. Haha!

I'm going to do some digging at my folk's place to see if i can cobble together something to ride. We've got an allecat right after I get back, and I don't want to go into it with 2 weeks of no riding.

I know the Hub on Minnehaha has a Sugino 75 crankset with 49tooth chainring just hanging out-of-box behind the counter. - they've also got a sweet "junk" room where there are serious treasures to be found.

also - if you're into the junk room idea - hit the basement of the One on One in downtown Minneapolis. um, ...everybody that's been down there knows why.

let's start there and move on as necessary. i don't get out of school until about 9:30 that night anyway...but it's pretty tempting to skip out, esp. since chimbs is gonna be here.

It all depends on where in the city you are. A google search will fill in all the others but those are some of the most popular.

you're not gonna find a whole lot just sitting on the shelves as far as track parts go. I've had to order most things I've bought, but you never know what can show up in the used bins too, and I haven't been to one on one in a bit, which would be your best bet for track **** more than likely.
