Might get a 05 Langster used pretty cheap. However, it's a 56cm and I'm 5 9'' 31 inseam, now I heard the geomerty is compact, so do these run small?

No, a 56 will likely be large for you. I am a bit taller than you and felt that my 56 was too big, especially the TT

i ride a 56 at 5'11 and it fits just right, you might want to look for a 54

exactly. this is about the only thing that will work. Im 5'11 and I ride a 58 while gregg is my size and prefers the opposite.

Compact geometry just means you'll have more standover than a traditional-geometried bike. It doesn't (shouldn't) affect the sizing of the frame.

I'm 6'0" and ride a 58. It fits fine, though the top tube is a tad long (with a 110 stem). Putting a 90mm stem on there would make it just right I think.
A 56 might feel a bit long for you, but it really depends on the geometry of YOUR body too. If you have a long torso in comparison to your legs, it might be just right.

Aw man, you're goin wangster on us? Naw but really those bikes are okay, we built up an 07 today, cheez-tastic man. It has skulls on the frame and fork, lame but its drilled for a back rack which is kinda rad. It's no track bike though, that's for sure.

I've ridden mine on the track several times. The geometry is not as appropriate for a velodrome as my Rock Lobster, but I didn't have any problems spankin people on it or having a blast on it.
I'd bet 95% of the people who post on this forum who own "track bikes" as you call them, have never ridden them through a banked turn. Maybe you're one of them?

Plantdude, I don't even OWN a track bike but a road frame I picked up for 30 bucks and converted. I wish I had the duckets to buy atleast a Langster but still I am annoyed that Specialized "cheez-a-fied" a potentially badass bike with gothic writing and skulls AND charge so freaking much!
