why do people on fgg and on here post pics with their bikes in cemetarys?.. kinda weird

Because certain cemetaries are fricken beautiful.
Gives one a sorta peaceful feeling, you know, when you think about all of the dumb crap you struggle with, and you're just gonna be pushing up daisys sooner than you hope.

or on bridges, or overpasses, or graffitti-ed walls, or docks/boardwalks, or on rocks, or hanging from trees, or in their driveway, or who cares...

also: hollywood cemetary in richmond is one of the most beautiful places i've ever been.

because we listen to the misfits way too much.

It's always a place where the least amount of people will catch you taking pictures of your bike.

Because once you eliminate cemeteries, bridges, overpasses, grafitti'd walls, docks/boardwalks, rocks, trees, and driveways, there's nowhere else to take a picture of your bike except your living room. And then everybody gets to see how pathetic your living room is, and **** that.

man when i finally get around to submitting my bike im totally going to photoshop the **** out of those pictures

"man", my bike submits to me all the time. what would you need photoshop for?
oh, and my living room wins.
i would have to use photoshop for graffitti in my living room, though.
and, finding your name on a tombstone in the cemetery makes for a brilliant alleycat stop. not my idea, but used and highly recommended.

You should have hypenated between the detail and obsessed, i.e. detailed-obsessed. Reads better that way.

The cemetery in my area has one of the best climbs in town. It was built on a large hill and switchbacks all the way up and then down the other side. Yup, the cemetary on the hill . . .

Before there were public parks in the US (prior to the mid-1800's) cemeteries served the communty as a place for strolling, picnicking, and getting a breath of fresh air. On Sundays, folks would put on their best attire and go for a stroll in the local cemetery.

Today, eventhough we have city parks, cemeteries still provide great open space within the urban context and many folks (including those on this forum) see the beauty and history of these places. Personally, I live right next to a fantastic cemetery dating back to the mid 1850's (Mountain View Cemetery in Oakland), and often go for walks, runs, or quick rides through the place as it offers some of the best views of the SF skyline and surrounding bay area.

Plus, I think there is an interesting contrast between a flashy new rig against the backdrop of an old tombstone, rolling hills of grass, or even the occasional cannon...
