Bikeforums.net is a forum about nothing but bikes. Our community can help you find information about hard-to-find and localized information like bicycle tours, specialties like where in your area to have your recumbent bike serviced, or what are the best bicycle tires and seats for the activities you use your bike for.

Hey y'all! yet another roadie from NC! I am in Hickory which is in the foothills, so lots of rolling hills and close to the mountains for when I really want to punish myself! I ride a C-dale that I bought used last year and am still in love with it! My goal this year is to ride a century, so as soon as this ice melts, I better hit the road, eh?
My miles on the bike, alas, are few and far between. With work, teaching committments and family, I have to carve out time to carve the blacktop. If anyone knows of a nice, not-too-mean century in western NC, I'd be happy to hear about it so I can start my training. thanks!

There are a ton of centuries in NC. The next one I can find is actually a 200km Brevet in High Point on March 29. If you are interested let me know and I'll send you details.
One of the clubs in Greensboro is sponsoring a 50 mile charity ride in Feb. Welcome to the Forums.
Peace,
Lou
Hi, and Welcome to the forums. I'm in N.C. too (just down the road from UNC-Chapel Hill), man there are quite a few of us on here now, we have got to plan a group ride sometime. The Tarwheels may have an event that suits you, if not, maybe the NCBC has one. The Tarwheels bikefest in August is a pretty big outing (and lots of time to train).

Thanks for the enthusiastic replies! Sounds like there are lots of opportunities in NC. I had thought about doing the MS150, but didn't know if I could stay in the saddle for that long!

Welcome aboard. There are several centuries out your way but most involve some pretty good hills. I'm planning on doing one down near Elizebeth City in late April that claims to be the flattest century. This might be a good place to start. Maybe we can work out a car pool. Check out the ride info at:

"Flattest Century" sounds good! this ice better melt off the roadways so I can get some miles on before April, eh? If I plan to go, carpooling would be great! I'll let you know, thanks for the offer!
