Hello Bikeforumites and Bikeforumettes.

This is a big "thank you" for inspiring me to go car free. The tips and tricks I picked up here helped to make it a painless transition. My wife and I were kind of anxious about it at first, but we made that giant leap of faith 10 months ago and haven't looked back. Our only regret is not having dumped the hunk of junk sooner. I still can not believe how much more money we have every month.

I get depressed visiting most discussion forums. They seem like such a waste of time and effort, offering little helpful information amidst endless flame wars that ultimately fail to change anyone's point of view. This place is different. Thanks for all you do! There must be dozens (if not hundreds) of other unregistered people like me out there reading your posts, so keep it up!

Congrats on the loss of the steel block! Yeah, I've been car-free for basically as long as you and I can't really complain at all.

everytime i see my paycheck and know that 20% of it is going toward my retirement, i smile to myself. i could never set aside money like that if i owned an automobile.

funny....

though I'm not car free, I was just thinking about how thankful I am to have found BF and all the stuff I learn here, opinions I view (whether or not I subscribe to those), laugh, cry, am inspired, encouraged, share... and considered posting my first thread just to say exactly that...

Thank you to all :D

Agreed. I was listening to MotorTrend on Sirius radio and they had some guy who collected concept cars. What they didn't tell you was how much money this guy spent and how he couldn't drive them on the road because none were street legal. It amaze me how much people will spend on their motor vehicles.
