I rode in this race yesterday for the FL state championship.

I have never riden this far in one straight sitting on the track!

It was 45 laps x 333 meters which = is 15 km.

I must say that after about 15 laps, my body just woke up and said " Ok, I'm ready to go, lets push it harder " ... and that is what I did... I started to wear down about 35 laps into the race and then I just kept a steady pace with very few efforts in between.

I did not score any points, I was unable to keep up with the lead group, and about 30 laps or so I got lapped by the lead group, then again near the end at about 40 laps I got lapped again by the lead pack of about 6 riders...

I stayed behind people that were riding closer to my pace and I kept a tight draft on them and that helped me to keep a good pace. I did not finish last, there were a few people who either gave up or just got lapped over and over and over.

Anyway, I just wanted to let you all know what I've been up 2 =)

15 km is what 16 y/o kids run... adults at least where i'm comming from ran 30 - 40 kms with at least 30sprints, double points in the middle and last sprints... If u dont believe me talk with the guy from uruguay (i think he is from there maybe Im wrong) that rents the bike in the velodrome u go to.

I think u finally understood why I insisted so much to you to get RACING PACE, high cadence and become stronger and stronger. I bet u were pedaling as fast as u could and other guys were passing u as riding in the park hehehe... The other sensation is going behind somebody and haging from your buggers trying to do not lose that wheel (track terms.)

Maybe im going there at mid aug. but nothing is too clear yet, U'll kick my ass hehehe 30 kgs overweight is too much but I can teach you too much if u are willing to learn.

cya :) and enjoy the experience :)

ps: some people gave up in a 15KM race? WTF???? it was an state chanpionship, what do they were xpecting? ride with mickey mouse? :p
