Hi all-

After searching the forums for about an hour, I have found several places in New York that will powdercoat a frame for less than $80.00.

I have called several auto shops and powder coating places near me and not-so-near-me (I'm in Long Beach CA) and can't find ANYONE that will paint it for less than $175.00, one color and without blasting.

Can anyone please point me to an affordable powder-coater here?

You might want to try Olympic Powder Coating in Santa Ana, CA. Alot of bikes get done there. They do pretty decent work with steel and they are reasonable---about $85.00 including fork and sand blasting. You must have all components and head badge stripped off and bring the fork in off the frame with the crown race removed....Lead time is a week to ten days. Their website is www.olympicpowdercoating.com. They're pretty cool cogheads too, but if you need any brazing or frame work done, you're SOL.Try to let them allow you to inspect the frame and fork after the sand blast job before powder coating to see if it needs another run in the booth, or if you have any micro cracks or other flaws. Maybe I'm a bit anal, but I always do that with any items that need powder coating just to make sure--- no matter who does the work.
