So I was doing hill intervals today (if anyone curious what that is PM me). Anyway I was descending from this mountain on a twsity road. As I make one the turns I find my self behind this huge SUV ridding it's breaks all the way down. So now I'm stuck behind it, hitting my breaks every 5 seconds to keep my distance. Then it occured to me. People shouting at me to get off the road, because I can't ride my bike 50mph. So I figured hey this is my approtunity to return a favor. :D I seriously doubt a driver heard me, but she did pull over and let me continue down.

With all the doom and gloom on these forums, I thought I'd post something different. ;)

Did you tell them to drive on the sidewalk ? ;)

Alas there was no sidewalk, so I don't think that particular remark would have been appropriate. :)

Doesn't it suck when a motor vehicle gets in your way?:D

A car stopped in front of me at a red, the driver got out just as the light went green, and walked unhurriedly over to a mailbox before returning to their vehicle.

I thought this was bad form. Didn't freak out and scream at them, though. Even in my car I wouldn't have done so, but that driver surely wouldn't have held up a car in like fashion.

Been there, done that. The funny thing is that in such a situation, the driver delays the cyclist much more than a cyclist delays a driver in the usual "get off the road" scenarios.

No one ever said anything about "freaking out", and "screaming".

I bet it was fun to consider it. :D

Hey, UD, where where you doing intervals? Just curious. I get those comments sometimes, just curious if it's in the same place (though usually time of day has more to do with it than location).

Page Mill road. It's near Los Altos. I'm the wiered guy on silver cannondale ridding without hands on Foothill Expy on my recovery days.

Oh, cool, that's a good 'un for keeping up with or even passing cars. 84 and 9 are good candidates too. I usually just hang back, don't get right on someone's *****, but even so I've had some folks pull over. One time down 9 I had the opportunity to pass a motorcycle but refrained.

We actually descended Page Mill yesterday morning around 8:30? a.m. (had gone up 9 earlier in the morning), big crowd going up there?!

I'll keep my eye out for ya. From previous threads I think we ride the same territory.
