Nascar road track racing.. oh god, it's like watching a warm up in the le mans...

oh come on, cant tell me it wouldnt be fun at least for a little while to let loose on a track driving a 3400lb car with like 700hp, I know, I know, watching it is like watching paint dry, but it beats golf :eek:

I am a big NASCAR fan but that race today was a real snoozer.

Who won? Forget it....I don't care.

NASCAR is dumb for two reasons: the tracks and the rules. changing to a road course only fixes half the problem.

As someone who raced quater midgets and go karts, and has actually driven a late model stock car...and crewed for a nascar busch north series team..... you guys have no appreciation for this sport. I like almost all forms of motorsports, but nascar is the most level playing field despite it's many short comings and takes a lot of talent. Your all entitled to your opinions of course. I'm not a fanatic, but I do have the utmost respect for what they do.

Also: Personally, I'd like to see a lot more road races and short tracks and less boring super speedways in nascar.

I crewed for one of the local guys here running late models at the columbus motor speedway(1/3 mile egg shaped oval) for a season, ya it takes some talent, and it is much better in person just feet from them blasting by, still, its the biggest red neck social club man has ever devised LOL. I did a few hot laps one day, I think Id like a bigger track really, 90mph on a little oval is a bit tight for my tastes. Mostly it takes lots of money AND talent, the prizes dont pay you to race even at the street junk level. Out of all the cars Ive tried I think the pro 4 modifieds were the most fun, but alas they went the way of the dinosaur and morphed into trucks last I heard.

Sure... I'll give ya that. But then again, a billion times zero is still... zero!

P.S. Again just my opinion.... but drifting is exciting!??? Are you kidding me!? You must be.You gotta go see it live sometime! Especially the real pairs drifting where the goal is to get as close to the other guy as possible. The energy and suspense is simply intoxicating. I used to think drifting was a joke, then I saw the D1-challenge at California Speedway a couple years ago and I was hooked.


Nascar road track racing.. oh god, it's like watching a warm up in the le mans...Yeah, I saw NASCAR attempt to race at Laguna Seca a couple years ago. Funny thing was the warm-up opener event was the 125cc shifter-carts. They were FASTER than the NASCAR guys around Laguna! And the times showed that just about ALL other racing series were faster than NASCAR around Laguna Seca. Even an Audi S8 with full interior was faster than NASCAR !!!

Well, it's just something that someone with any sense of propriety would want to do.

Anyone have a link to the NASCAR vs. Indy driver showdown? They swapped drivers and cars and compared their times. Turned out NASCAR drivers aren't that bad. Just that the whole damn series SUCKS!!!

well if some of you are going to trash that type of racing at least get the terminology correct, NASCAR is a sanctioning body, they handle multiple types of racing not JUST Nextel cup cars, so when you say NASCAR it doesnt mean Nextel cup cars, at least get it straight.....its like saying UCI when referring to the TDF and elite pro bike racing

they do open wheel races too, NASCAR sanctions a pretty wide variety of races, and its also quite common to see other sanctioning bodies at the same track on the same day when multiple types of races are run, here locally for example you will see on saturdays and sundays the street junk, sometimes an ASA race of some sort, and then late models

most people say "nascar" and assume one thing and one thing only, Nextel cup cars, isnt the case
