So I finally recieved my rear Ritchey WCS tubular wheel (originally the send me the clincher). I tried it on a bike, and (not exactly sure how to explain it). If I flip the bike and pedal with my hand, when I stop pedaling the freewhell doesn't really spin all that freely so while the wheel turns so is the free wheel which pulls on the chain. If I let go of the pedals, they continue to turn. If I stop pedal with my arm the chain visibly sags. Should I try to contact Ritchey and go through another 6 month of emails and hopefully get a correct properly working wheel, or can the hub be rebuild at a bike shop?

Ok, I figured out a problem. The washer that came with a wheel and that goes between cassete and wheel was too thin. So cassette was rubbing against the wheel. I added another washer that came with a cassete, and that seemed to solve the problem. Is that an acceptable solution?

Yeah, that's a little strange. It's possible the freehub is 9/10 speed. I'm not familiar with these parts, but it may be possible that you're supposed to use the wheel's washer PLUS the cassette washer.

On a Shimano hub, the 9-speed cassette doesn't come with, nor use, a washer. I wonder if Ritchey intends that you leave this washer on there for any cassette.

Yes the hub is 9 and 10 speed compatible, but I'm using a 10 speed casstette on it. Very wiered. So should I be worried?

No worries. The 10 speed cassette is narrower than the 9, thus requires the spacer. If it's working without the narrow spacer, then you're ok. Just make sure the chain has at least 0.5mm clearance from the spokes, in case some lateral movement might rub the two together. If it's too close, then just stack the two spacers.

Other than that, get out and ride.
