After 19 consecutive runnings and a variety of sponsors, the annual Women's Challenge held in Idaho each year has run out of sponsors and will not be run in 2003.

Velonews (http://www.velonews.com/news/fea/3412.0.html) has the story.

I loved that race. It was a showcase for women and one of the few American stage races.

I saw that too. Don't know much about the event I'm sorry to say. There must have been one heck of a sales job going on to have sponsors for nineteen years. By that I mean, men's cycling is a tough sell, women's must be a real toughie. To keep it going that long and then just not be able to do it again must be a real blow to the organizers. Kudos to you folks for doing something so good for the sport for so long, whoever you are...

Didn't one of the "grand tours for women" get dropped too? Seems like I read that recently?
