Pretty much anything in your price range will do you for a beginner bike. Find something that was more expensive and is now on sale down in your price range. Order online and it will be cheaper.

You are a pretty decently sized kid, the Fit Am is not going to hold you, nor is a Haro or an Eastern bike other than the Ace of Spades or Jane.. You will wreck all of those. I have a Fit Pro and i beat up on it pretty good, but that's cuz I try a lot of things, so my bike takes a bit of abuse.

Since when is 135lb heavy? Unless he hucks himself off a lot of huge stuff, any of those bikes will hold up fine. Just because a bike is more expensive doesn't always mean it's stronger; some of them just have slightly more high-tech parts or are lighter, in which case it might be weaker.

135 pounds for a 13 year old kid is a pretty decent amount. I am 15 and 125 lbs and I can still beat up on my Fit Pro a bit.

I am built. I'm just short and pretty decently light too- perfect for a wide receiver and cornerback for football...

how is it good to be short and be a wide reciever?

Ha. Damn all you soccer players.. play a man's sport.
I don't like being short, my girlfriend is actually like an inch taller than me, which doesn't make me feel too good.
