On a recent ride one of the welds on my seat frame broke. The bike & seat frame for that matter is 5 years old. The bike I ride is a Vision R40 SWB with OSS.
I had it welded back together by a guy who specializes in aluminum welding, he is certified in it. Only cost me $10.00 for the repair. Compard to costing $300.00+ for a new one.
It took me longer to take the day bag, Camel Bak & seat cover & pad off & put them back on then it did for him to repair it.
Thankfully aluminum cools very quickly so I could get going right away after he repaired it.
I imagine it broke due to it being a weak spot on the frame & all of the stresses it takes when going over bumps, etc on the roadways.
Anyone ever have a problem with their seat frame? Were you able to have it repaired? If not, why? No shop to do it or was it beyond repair?
