Since I quit smoking 6 weeks ago, I endlessly chew gum (trident). Is it bad for you to endlessly chew sugar-free gum? It has aspartame, but I imagine that the dose is quite low compared to that taken by endless diet soda drinkers. Thoughts?
Don't go back to smoking.

Give it time. If you quit smoking then you can quit chewing sugar free gum in say 6 months or a year when you feel you have the smoking habit curbed permanently. :)
Not too much, sorbitol works as a laxative too :)

I chew gum all day, everyday. I will chew a single peice of Extra for about 8 hours. I can actually tuck it away in my cheek, and eat lunch, and then start chewing again. Some people think this is gross, but I think its talent :)
Be careful if you swallow gum that is sugar free, because it can be more harmful.

I chew, like, a pack a night at work, but rarely chew any at all away from work. I quit smoking, um, almost 12 years ago so I don't think that's it. Maybe it's the stress of work or somethin'. I'm on vacation right now and have no urge whatsoever to chew gum.
try eating baby carrots...they help control cravings and are low in calories and fat!

Along the same lines, honeycomb works pretty well, too, if you're not worried about long-lasting flavor. Just try to get most of the sweet stuff off of there first if you're worried about calories.

carrots arent really low in calories... they are a starchy vegetable. Eat celery if you want low calories.
A study just came out, within the last month or two showing NO negative effects from long term aspartame use. So rest assured, you are safe.

If you have followed the strong following of people negatively effected by aspartame you wouldn't be saying the same thing.

When you coming back to Pisgah?
:(I don't know. Let's put it this way, ASAP! Unfortunately, the soonest might not be very soon at all. My vacation for October got messed up so I had to take it now. I don't have a vehicle that'll make it out there, and probably won't until October/November sometime. Trust me, I'm comin' back, tho!:D

Gum chawin' and gnawin' is way so better than any smoking. Don't give up genericbikedude. I quit after 30 yrs of smoking and if I can do it, anyone can.

Try chewing gum that is sweetened with Xylitol. It is a natural sweetner and it is actually good for your teeth. I don't think it has any harmful side effects with long use. Trident uses Xylitol now, YAY!

Hmm, didn't know that was a sweetener. Thought it was just an additive. I dig on some Trident, tho.:) My dog's last dental care chew toy had Xylitol added to it, too.
