Road Cycling - What's your typical weekly schedule?

Bikeforums.net is a forum about nothing but bikes. Our community can help you find information about hard-to-find and localized information like bicycle tours, specialties like where in your area to have your recumbent bike serviced, or what are the best bicycle tires and seats for the activities you use your bike for.

What's your typical weekly riding (or "training" if that is what you prefer to call it) schedule? As this is an international board, I expect that there will be a lot of variation, since the folks in the Southern hemisphere are doing a summer schedule while the rest of us are making it through the winter as best we can. Then there's the commuters, and the tourers...

Right now, I aim for 140 miles a week:

Saturday - ~50 miles
Sunday - ~50 miles
Mon-Fri - Two or three lunchtime rides totalling 40 miles

For the past two months I've also done a century ride and for the last three I've also completed a metric. That's about the only variation, unless there's a holiday, which means I get an additional long ride in that week. My plan for the year is to continue that trend.

Peace y'all,
Lou

I'm so far ahead of where I was last year. The good Central Coast of California weather gets the credit.

Monday 30-45 flats or small rollers
Tuesday 30-50 mix of hills and flats
Wednesday 40-60 rolling hills
or 35-50 big hills
Thursday Social ride with local geezers 20-45 depending on coffee shops (usually a lot of fun)
Friday 40-50 big hills
Saturday 35-35 club ride (usually faster than I am)
Sunday Off

If I have more partners during the week, I can get more miles because it is easier for me to get miles with companions.

Well it's still really cold here in the mornings. I ride about 7 miles before work, usually 4 weekdays. (There's always one night that I can't get to bed early enough, which makes it difficult to get up at 4 am for a ride.) Weekends - I try to get at least 20 miles in on each day. What with other things getting in the way and some really bad weather days, I'm averaging only 50 - 60 miles.

This Sunday is supposed to be sunny and 40 degrees f. Oh boy! I’m gon’a get about 50 miles in then! :)

Well coming up this monday I start my indoor training on the bicycle. I haven't ridden a normal bike since about november..So February is typically when I begin to get serious about training for the upcoming season, I'll ride on the indoor trainer 3 times to 5 times per week, and I've been doing a spinning class for the last

Oops, I didn't realize that post reply thing at the bottom on the page, has a time and word limit, so that's why it's incomplete...Anyway what I was saying is that I'm doing spinning class once a week and climb stairs at least twice a week...I'll do the indoor training on the bike for the whole month of february or untill I can get outside and ride....Hopefully that'll be soon!!..

It's really cold up here, so I hope it warms up soon, and I'm really looking forward to spring and riding outside...

Monday: 45min spin around the block zone 1
Tuesday: 45km to work zone 2-3
Wednesday: 55km to work zone 2-3
Thursday: 65km to work at a faster pace than previous two days
Friday: off or 45min spin around the block zone 1
Saturday: Race 60-100km
Sunday: 45min spin around the block zone 1 or easy 50km

I only ride to work one way and get a lift home. All rides are in the hills, so staying in a zone can be difficult.

CHEERS.

Just a newbie but ...

3 days spinning - 1 interval, 1 race day, 1 strength (sometimes a fourth of recovery or interval)

3 days full nautilus circuit

2 to 4 days 30 floors steps at work -2 steps at a time.

1 brisk 2 mile walk twice a week

Any other little steps, walks, weights I can sqeeze in.

Thats year round right now.

In the better weather add in any time to canoe, kayak, backpack, bike, flyfish(little hiking here).

Right now I am still on my rollers doing base miles. I try to average 25 a day, 175 a week, but some times its 40 one day 15 another. In a week or two I will start riding outside again. Then I will do tempo mon and tue (30 to 45 mins hr 160-163), wed and thur will be easy days 20-30 miles, and fri sat will be tempo again with sun being endurance 50-60 miles.
