Commuting - Bike Review Website?

Bikeforums.net is a forum about nothing but bikes. Our community can help you find information about hard-to-find and localized information like bicycle tours, specialties like where in your area to have your recumbent bike serviced, or what are the best bicycle tires and seats for the activities you use your bike for.

Are there any bike review websites?
I need guidance towards making my first purchase for a bike.
It will take me too and from work and school, both fairly short rides on sidewalks and roads(3-6Miles). The cheaper the better(300 Max). I am looking into new and used bikes, but I don't know anything about the bikes I am finding.
Any help guiding my research will be greatly appreciated.
Thanks again

For the use you discribe consider an older steel framed 3 speed bike. These bikes were ideal for
the very type of useage you noted. They are cheap ,reliable, easy to own, easy to use, fairly theft
proof while being (in most cases) fully equipped with fenders and a good upright riding postion to
allow you to ride comfortably in street clothes.
The old Raleigh, Schwinn, Sears 3 speeds were great at doing just what you need to do and did so
for millions of miles for millions of folks. Not fancy or gee whiz but the 3 speed will "git-r-done" mate.
In fact the rest of the world still depends ,in many places, on the 3 speed to use as daily transport.
