Commuting - Need New Bike Advice

Bikeforums.net is a forum about nothing but bikes. Our community can help you find information about hard-to-find and localized information like bicycle tours, specialties like where in your area to have your recumbent bike serviced, or what are the best bicycle tires and seats for the activities you use your bike for.

I am new to this forum so please forgive and advise if there is a better place to post this. I have been commuting for quite a while on my old MTB. I want to upgrade to a "performance hybrid" style bike but don't know much about which components are better than others etc. I know I want disc brakes cuz it rains so much here (Vancouver) but thats about it. I am looking at several bikes:
Kona Dr. Dew
Devinci Copenhagen
Devinci Melbourne
Cannondale Bad Boy/Bad Boy Ultra
Any advice????

Can't say about the other brands, but I tested the Kona Dew (without Disc) and I liked it, it felt solid. I prefer the Trek FX though.

... here's another choice to add to your list based on my own recent research ...
Specialized Sirrus.
I'm picking up a new base model for $499 on Saturday.
Lots of good reviews.
The most common comment I get when talking about my choice is:
"That's a great bike for the price. They have a lot of decent components on a less expensive but durable frame."
Hope that helps...

Thanks - I actually just forgot to list the Sirrus. The reason I am staying away from that one is that there are just too many models in that line - I cant figure out what makes one better than the other and the price range from the bottom to the top is pretty big. I liked the Sirrus Pro but it was very expensive. The other bikes I listed are in the $1200 CDN range - I think the Sirrus Pro is like $1500 to $1700.

My advice is to ride all those bikes first and cross the ones you don't like to ride off the list.
