My 'bent originally came with a 1" threadless fork & 650c wheels. I want to change to 26" standard MTB wheels for their larger tires. I haven't been able to find a 1" threadless MTB fork. I have, however, been able to find a 1" threaded MTB fork, and I happen to have a matching headset in my spare parts box.

Now the questions... If I swap to a threaded fork, will I be able to find a stem to match? Alternately, does anybody make a 1" threaded to threadless adapter that would allow me to use the existing stem on the new threaded fork?

Thanks!

Nashbar currently offers adapters for 1" and 1 1/8" threaded forks - they allow use of 1 1/8" threadless stems. For only $4.95!. I have had one on a 13 yr. old Cannondale hybrid for a couple of years - much greater selection of threadless stems these days than threaded.

Thanks JanMM - I may go that route, but I may just wait for a 1" threadless MTB rigid fork to turn up.

Hi,
I acquired a 'hanger queen', a Burley Limbo that was missing a lot of parts. Cut to the chase: I have a 1.125" threadless steer tube and a long-quill stem that serves as my steering gear; the quill has an OD of 1.00"
How to mate the two?
I had a friend machine a 'stem adapater' out of 1.5" aluminum stock. The final piece looks like the attached.
Maybe you can find a friendly machinist to aid your cause, eigh?
