Bikeforums.net is a forum about nothing but bikes. Our community can help you find information about hard-to-find and localized information like bicycle tours, specialties like where in your area to have your recumbent bike serviced, or what are the best bicycle tires and seats for the activities you use your bike for.
What are your weather guessers saying about your weather? I just got picked for a class down at Chapel Hill starting the 11th and was thinking of flying myself down there. I'm instrument rated, but would rather not have to deal with weather like this in a small, single engine plane.
Is is supposed to clear and dry up in the next week or so?
Unfortunately, doesn't look like there'll be time to ride, so I'm not planning on stuffing my bike into the plane.

This time of year weather is a tough call. With the high temps and humid air we get some pretty nasty weather popping up rather than moving in a front.

It's clear right now, but that won't last for long...
We're supposed to have a good weekend, but then hot and wet again next week.

Uhhh.... why not?
I can deal with the thunderstorms... by avoiding them. And I know the typical midlant weather buildups and all. I'm just wondering what they're saying about this stationary stuff. Is it going to move out and let the normal summer patterns back in?
Also, has there been any flooding in the Chapel Hill or Raliegh-Durham, NC areas... specifically the airports? The airport folks didn't mention any when I called asking about hangar space or tie-downs.

I only heard of some flooding in low-lying areas of Raleigh.
I think both airports are usually safe from flooding...
And, just in case... are there any good trails to ride in Chapel Hill?

Ask JFK Jr.'s uncle about how safe driving is.

Yes. There is good singletrack near Chapel Hill High. Ask the folks at The Clean Machine (Carrboro LBS) about them... (these trails are also very near to Horace Wllms airport in C.H.) Clean Machine also rents bikes.
Check here: http://trianglemtb.com/ for other trail info in the area. Due to June being a month of record rainfall (last week in particular) - most area trails are CLOSED now.

I've been in Williamsburg for a week, its been sporatic rainstorms all damn week. I don't see it getting better. I am in NJ now, its clear.
Ask JFK Jr.
OK... so I should ask a guy with not much flight time, no instrument rating, flying a high performance airplane, overwater, at night, in the haze about flying during the daytime, over land when I have quite a bit more time than him, am instrument rated and will be flying a slower plane than I've been trained for.
Yeah... that's a good comparison or reason why not to fly.
Perhaps you shouldn't ride your bike either because other people have done dumbass things and killed themselves.

Thanks, jack... maybe I'll just bring my pedals and shoes (much easier to put in to a small plane!). I'm planning on flying into Horace Williams at the moment.
