Since the Tour isn't on Cycling.tv I'm wondering what to do. I don't have cable tv and don't plan on signing up. Someone posted a great link to an Italian website that had live coverage and archived stages of the Giro. Sure, it was Italian, but it was better than nothing. Anyone know of a website that will broadcast the Tour? I don't really care if it's French, Italian, whatever, just so I can watch. Thanks.

last year i found instructions somewhere online to stream it off tv2.dk, but this year it doesn't appear as easy to figure out, especially since i don't speak the language!!! if anyone can read it, please tell what it says about watching live.

what about live audio streams of phil & paul & bob? anyone know about a link for that?

thx in advance!

matt

It seems like you can get a one month access to web-TV with full TdF coverage from Norwegian TV2 for 60 NOK (less than 10 USD), payable by credit card.

http://pub.tv2.no/TV2/
Click on the link "WEB TV" on the right in the top menu
A new window opens, click on the British flag at the top right corner for English text
For prices, click on "Priser" in the bottom left corner (Norw. text only, it seems)

Disclaimer: I have not gone through the registration procedure myself and do not know if it actually works.

Erling.

I was just going thru the website. I created an account and regsister. It costs 159 Kroner which Norway's currency. I converted to usd and its about $22.

You just have to use common sense in filling out these forms. Just from past errors and knowledge you get from filling out other online forms you can complete easily.

Is the commentary in Norwegian or English?

The link I gave to Norwegian TV2 (http://pub.tv2.no/TV2/) is Norwegian commentaries, as it's a web version of their national broadcast. The expert commentator is Johan Kaggestad, Grete Waitz's and Ingrid Kristiansen's old coach BTW.

I don't know about the link to the Danish TV2 (http://tour.tv2.dk/article.php/id-4371288.html) that bluehorizons suggested.

OK. With a little help from your friend:

Danish TV2

http://tour.tv2.dk/article.php/id-4371288.html

Click on Live 5: TDF

You need to register first (sorry but cannot reproduce it anymore, as already registered ).

Give
1)Username and
2)password [repeat password]

enter email address, where you will receive a message with a link to activate your newly created account.

Up to now nothing to pay. Then all you want is watch the Tour live, so click on anything that says Tour Premium. Click on 1-Dag if you want to watch one day only.

You'll be asked for credit card details. 159 DKK is equivalent to 20-25 USD .

Choose Kreditkart (Visa Mastercard AmericanExpress should be fine)
1. credit card number
2. Expiry date (example 08 09 where 08 = month 09 = year)
3. kontrollsomething are the 3 digits behind your creditcard

Kop means "Buy" and you're in. Next time you login at the page above you'll enter directly the site.

I am watching after race comments now, good quality. Comments in Danish, but I don't care, I'm listening simultaneously to English comments from eurosport.com, French from eurosport.fr, German from eurosport.de etc

I hope this helps.

a little more help & information for those interested. i just went thru and signed up, pretty much without a hitch. took about 15 mins all told.

some additional translations that might be helpful (i think!!!):
Opret login -- create login
Bruvernavan -- login
Adgangskode -- password
Log pa -- log in

so to get signed up and watching online:
*** first you need to create you login first clogin as adamastor mentioned, and in that process just accept all 3 checkboxes (absolutely no idea what they say) and wait for email confirmation & click the link in your email.
*** then click 'fortsaet' and you may need to upgrade windows media player if necessary (i did).
*** then Choose 'tour - premium' or 'tour - 1 day(g)'.
1 - Enter credit card number
2 - Udlobsdato date (mo // yr both 2 digits)
3 - kontrollsomething are the 3 digits behind your creditcard
get email confirmation & note order number on screen.
*** then go to http://sputnik.dk/ and click on 'se touren' then 'folg touren live' and then click 'se nu' and enter your login details. I had a hard time getting it to load on their screen, so I clicked the little windows media player button and it seemed to work much better.

Its definitely a little choppy, and goes in and out, but definitely worth $25 in my view. Hopefully it will get better over the next week or so. Probably depends a lot on your bandwidth too I'd suppose. I'll be honest, this year seems worse than last year in terms of video quality, but it very well may be the fact that I switched jobs from a big-4 accounting firm to a much smaller office, so maybe the bandwidth is a factor -- I've been watching the last couple minutes with the picture upside down and green in color!!! It goes away, but is kind of annoying. But in the effort of full disclosure, wanted to let you folks know about the shortcomings. It usually works fine if you stop & restart the media player stream. on a positive note, its the direct feed so there aren't any commercials (at least so far)!

Also, what I did last year was to simultaneously stream the video (in dutch, I think, which I don't understand) and the audio from eurosport which is in english. Then I plod along working with both in the background, and when I hear something exciting said by the announcers I'll flip over to the video, since there is about a minute to catch up anyways.

That’s it -- you should be golden. Good luck.
