Ok took first ride in born3 mt goat jersey, so here is the comparison with solumbra cycling shirt.

Mt Goat Jersey
===========
SPF 50
no mesh work under pits or under arms and no venting in back
standard 3 pocket back
extra generous sleeve length
fair colors: not quite bright enough for safety

Cycling shirt
=========
SPF 30
mesh work under pits, arms, and venting in back
standard 3 pocket back
muted yellow and white: again not bright enough for safety

Evaluation.
--either top works well for 65 to 85F temps.
--cycling shirt can be used as an overshirt up to 80F
--above 90F, mt goat jersey is cooler. It doesn't make sense. Temp was 94 on ride home and felt like low 80's. I think it is because the SPF 50 blocks more of the radiant heat so it doesn't feel as hot.
-- cycling shirt can be pressed and wrinkles easily
-- mt goat jersey cannot be ironed but bold patterns cover wrinkles

-- high temps, mt goat jersey wins. Moderate temps, I'll probably go with the cycling shirt else I would be wearing the same top every day.

They said on their web site that custom jerseys are a possiblity. I'll check it out and see. I agree solid is better.
