Hello all... long time no talk :D
Ya ya, been hard lately... lawyers, etc...
BUT, now the pizza job is about to be dead.
Last night I was on what will probably be my last every delivery as a pizza person. After dropping of the pizza and collecting 40 dollars in cash (2 20's) I was cut off by a black sports car, and they actually came so close on the side they clipped my mirror. They slid in front of me, and the guy came to my window, and I stupidly got out, the guy just hit my car. I was pitch dark and before I knew it I was being shuved into the car hood and onto the ground, and the guys grabbed my wallet and stole all the pizza cash... 60+ dollars from two deliveries. They then took off before I could even get up off the floor.
I went back to the store and the shift supervisor made me "pay" for the customers orders since I did not have the money... after I had been robbed! Then she tried to send me on another delivery! ... I told her no way and I went home.
Now work is crying because I am not coming in today and I am trying to decide on what to tell the manager tomarrow...
1. I am going on a leave of absence... won't be back until august and only if I am not delivering anymore
2. or I quit, take me off the schedule
I can not do this anymore... I am been assulted 3 times in the last month, had my car keyed, been cussed and spit at more times then I can count, etc... and this is supose to only be a summer/secondary job. They even called today to tell me "we can't cover your shift" - of course they can not... they loose 2 drivers a month, I work the shift no one wants to work, and they are having a hard time finding anyone...
Plus the stupid delivery charge does not even cover gas here, and customers rarely tip!
Mandy
That blows
Screw coming back, I'd find a different job. Being mugged is one thing, but to have an unsympahtetic shift supervisor greet you when you come back? **** that.
'Hard', I doubt it
Girlfriend get the fuc outta Kalifornia and get yourself one of these!

The great equalizer!
I'd file a police report... one against the guys who mugged you and one against the pizza shop who mugged you a second time!!
I can't believe a shop would do that to an employee if they file a police report regarding the original mugging.

Stacey and I always seem to tell you to carry a weapon, and I hate to sound like a jerk and keep bringing it up, but you do live in a dangerous place and you should expect to be victimized. Please, please, please please get yourself some potent pepper spray, and perhaps a modern tazer (not a stupid, cheap, unreliable stun gun) if you can offord to lay down the cash. Either or both are legal to carry in Kali and would have made short work of these jack off's. www.jlusa.com is a good place to buy such items.

whatkind of pizza do you deliver to have people attack you and spit on you? NOONE spits on pizza over here!:p ohh.. drama drama drama.. and I thought desperate house wives had all the drama, I got to get myself a pizza delivery job!
Find something else.
I never got robbed while delivering, except by other drivers. We had one guy that would get a sudden urge to help prepare orders, when he could manipulate the orders so that he got the big orders. We got a percentage of the order plus tip. I had brought this up with the manager a week before he snaked me for a $40 order, leaving me with a $5.40 order. I walked.
We had one poor dude that seemed to get robbed every other week. Once they busted his rear window out of his truck, and one time he got rolled pretty good.
I always tip the pizza dude well, but with gas being what it is, you likely aren't making very much, you'd be better off doing just about anything else.
Are you people just allowed to BUY weapons? Wow!
Pretty much, if you are of appropriate age and have a clear criminal record. Then in many states, if you get the proper training, you can get a permit to actually carry one.
It's when you steal weapons that you have a problem.

Okay that's it. Come upstate, Mandy. I'm teaching you a few lessons. *Goes to get the Gi*
Mandy, I love ya sis but what were you thinking??? if the ahole clipped your car at night you do this. Write his license plate down, call the cops and say the person hit your car and ran. Why would you get out of the freakin car at night? I'm a big guy, and I wouldn't have gotten out. Contact your insurance company, do anything but get out of the car.

Didn't you have a problem with dogs a while back?
Is there nothing else you can do for work? No Vo-tec or community college with a job training program? With all the college scholarship money available, you should be able to get your share.
Don't just go with the tides of life, design a boat and sail!
I am a substitute teacher during the day... I will be full time in about a year.
Pizza, fastfood, etc are just help during the summer.
Someone said delivering pizza was the third, or fifth dangerous job in america... no kidding. I think every one of our drivers has been bitten by a dog, or assulted, or ... it is a nasty area... and it is no better for girls...
It was so dark that I could not see the car, neverless the licence plate. I learned my lesson about getting out of the car... maybe call the police next time. I had a really bad feeling about the area... but my boss pressured me into the delivery.
Now the regional manager is involved... we will see what happens...
Oh ya...
1. Shoved to the ground by a drunk guy about 3 months ago... thought his pizza was late. - Charges Pressed
2. Had a guy go after me with a baseball bat - no appartent reason (I was a white girl in a black neighborhood... :( )
3. Has pit bull attack me in a yard
4. Robbed by hispanic kids
5. ****
Hmmm... how long can I deal with the crap... not much longer. BTW the company has a policy... no resistance... i.e. no fighting back, no weapons (spray, taser, guns, etc), no resistance, and they will not pay when something is stolen, etc. Acording to the policy I would not get reimursed for the money they stole... although it was company money... of course I thought that was illegal.

My advice is to quit the pizza job. Go to work at Kinkos or Staples, or Walmart. Anyplace but the delivery gig. And as for carrying a weapon, I gonna have to say no, not a good idea. I understand where those that post that are coming from. I am retired military, and have a carry permit in Florida. But unless you are trained, I mean really TRAINED in when to use it, then it is a bad idea. Pulling out a weapon isn't a magic wand. It doesn't make the bad guys go away, and it won't intimidate them. It may provoke them to pull theirs. If you pull it, you use it. It is not a threat, it is a final option.
Sell greeting cards. Or go on Craigslist and get a cheesy writing gig for $0.02 a word. Anything. But do not carry a weapon without real, honest, in depth training. And the knowledge that if you use it, you are going to have company each and every night for the rest of your life.
Yup, only get a weapon if you are confident and trained in it's use. I'll eventually take a gun safety course just so I'll know how to care for the family heirlooms (several of my great-grandfather's shotguns and rifles, think there might be a handgun or two in there as well). If I get any of the handguns I'll probably get a CCW permit just so I don't have to worry about anyone trying to give me crap for having it hidden in the car or when carrying it in/out of an apartment (although I pray I can afford a house before my parents die, don't like apartments).
I do need to get some pepper spray. Wish I wouldn't have kept on hurting my damn ankle in judo, that was lots of fun :(.

well.. the more I listen to you talk about your bad experiences, the more Im wondering why you still work in there, isnt there another job you could find? I mean this one is not your career but additional income for the summer, so why not finding something else?
My 14 year old daughter works as a buss person, makes about 12 to 15 dollars an hour ( pay hourly plus tips) not bad for a 14 year old, bet you can find something way better then that!

My advice would be to call up your supervisor and have the satisfaction of telling her what a complete mother-****ing ***** she is! What a bunch of crap! There is no way, absolutely no way that you should be forced to pay for something like that. The only leverage they've got for forcing you is the threat of termination. Frankly, good riddance to it. You can do better, and I know you will.

**** that pizza joint. Toss a brick through the manager's car window and let them schedule you for a bunch of shifts and don't show up to any of them. Keep a club in your car within arms reach and take it w/ you next time something like that happens.

Maybe something in commercial fishing industry in Alaska. Mid June through the end of July is salmon fishing. They always need processors, and will fly you up there. You could get $2500-$3000 for a month of work. Free dormitory type room and board. But not much time off. Days are long and the work is pretty tedious. Or if you know how to work on a boat, you could make quite a bit more.
You should think seriously about getting pepper spray/tazer/tazer gun and/or some kind of defensive weapon.
