Any recommendations for a car rack to hold a Sun EZ Sport CX? I would prefer a trailer hitch rack so I can be independent loading/unloading my bike (watching me trying to get a LWB onto a roof rack would definitely be a Kodak moment!). Does anyone know of an existing manufactured rack or do I have to find someone to build a custom rack for me? Thanks!

Try this:

I just found out about this from Easyracers.com forum a few days ago.

They have several models long enough to take a tandem recumbent!

I've used a Hollywood folding rack to carry MANY things on my '91 Honda Accord, including an upright freezer that was sitting on the sidewalk with a "FREE" sign on it!~
I can easily load my Greenspeed tandem on it, or my single trike or my Tour Easy.
I paid about $60 for it 10 or 12 years ago.
AND, it folds up and goes in the trunk while I'm riding. Takes about 3 minutes to install or remove.
I have the Long Prong version that holds 3 DF bikes if you're careful loading them.

Are you at all handy - ie. cut and weld/bolt steel? If so, I have a homemade trike rackmade from 1 1/4" stock, Yakima wheel trays and wheel straps that I have used for 6 years. Works for 2 and 3 wheel bents. About a dozen people have asked for plans (rudimentary line drawings), but enough to get the idea across. Total cost is under $100.00. Send e-mail address to : rwasserman10@comcast.net.

Happy trails,

Since we carry 4 bikes most of the time when we transport before a ride...I needed a versatile solution. It turned out to be the solution I already had in hand, which is a 4-bike hitch rack with single arm. Trick is mounting the EZ upside-down and it goes on first. I use a pair of the newish tie cord things to secure the bars stationary against the rack, and when there are 4 bikes I remove the seat from the EZ. I put the bike on with the bars to the right, so that the chain is on the inside, and fit 3 road bikes on with the EZ.

Just make sure nothing is hanging near the exhaust pipe! An hour or more of driving will destroy all rubber/plastic that is being hit with exhaust! (been there, done that)

I must be good, when I transport them it's usually quite a distance, have drvine them 9 hours at a time.

Thanks for the great responses! I'm leaning towards something 'store bought' because I haven't welded or done metal work since High School shop class LOL

The atoc website looks interesting. Now that I'm getting back into riding, my beloved and our two boys (12 and 10) are starting to show some interest. So, need to look at how many bikes we may have to transport besides my LWB ride.
