General Cycling Discussion - Why is no one ever in the chat room? :(

I'd do a poll, but it just seems too silly. Anyway, I check every time I'm on, and so far, I've only been in 1 chat conversation.

What gives? No one wants to talk to Koffee? ;)

I've tried numerous times, all I get is a blank screen, no cursor. Maybe I don't wait long enough?? I think I don't have whatever software is needed to make it work.

I think the main reason is that we cannot see who is already in there. I go in regularly but it is always empty, execpt for the one *wonderful* :D time that you stepped in at the same time as me Koffee ;). Joe said there is some technical issue with the bot that reports whose in the room.

Um, it's hard to "chat" at work.

Ditto. Usually by the time I get home from work it's some stupidly late hour in the US (around 2am or something), so I don't bother then. Maybe I'll try this weekend.

It will not work on my older computer with AOL 5.0, but will on my newer with AOL 7.0. I would assume the same with older and newer versions of IE, as AOL is built on the IE platform.

I think scheduled chat times would do the trick.

Scheduled chat times would be nice. Joe, is there any way you could add sounds, so that if you minimize the screen and someone starts writing, I could hear a sound and maximze the screen so that I could talk? I think part of the problem is that people log in, and when they don't see anyone, they don't want to wait around looking at a screen for someone to talk to. I do that with my msn messenger when I'm waiting around for my buddies to come online too.

I think instead of a who's on bot, just put a chat schedule in that space. Or just put something in the guidelines....But it would be alot of work to figure out what times to schedule chats, and then to set up the site for them.

It could be a problem to set up scheduled chats if you make it one.

I vote for just setting up 3 scheduled chat times- one that's convenient for our European friends, one that's convenient for our Asian (and Australian) friends, and one that's convenient for our American friends. Hey, I'm a late-nighter, but if I know there's a chat for 2AM C.S.T., which is convenient for the European friends, I'd be inclined to sit up for a while and talk.... If I knew there was a chat for 6AM C.S.T. for our Australian and Asian friends, hey... I'll get up an extra hour early from time to time to say hi and see what's going on over the International Date Line...

It could work. I say just schedule the times, and see what happens. You can tweak the times later if you need to.

the chat room only works when you are on the trainer at 400 watts. when i slow down to type the screen fades out.
