Yeah - luckily their dope doctors aren't being investigated.

SO VERY NAIVE.
The guy who supplies some of the riders has been investigated and his clients withdrawn from competition. The rest of the peloton are still doping, but their suppliers aren't been investigated.

don't you guys have these on the other side of the pond?

Or at least the ones they've caught.
If all these riders are actually dirty, I'm having a hard time believing that any of them are clean. Just ones who have been caught and ones who haven't.

Kind of feel like a punch in the gut after all that build up for the Basso/Ulle showdown....
It's wide open now, though. Should be fairly entertaining, as long as you watch it on mute. It's going to get real old real fast listening to the bobbleheads on OLN tell us about the scandal and how Discovery is so pristine...

If you read my post it says all of THESE dopers gone, not all of THE dopers gone. One can also assume that the less paid riders who are on a cheaper doping program will probably not juice as much due to fear of the scrutiny this scandal will bring. If the avg speed stays the same this year then come back and TYPE IN BOLD AT ME.

Average speed will likely be higher than last years TDF. One, fewer mountaintop finishes. Two, wide open race without DC controlling everything, so likely there will be more hard racing with no one favorite, and that favorite's team controlling things. Three, For the most part, the guys that have beenn sacked were not the guys setting tempo, anyway. Four, Do you honestly believe, we've caught al the dopers now, and the 189 (or how many actually line up this year) riders that start this year's TDF are drug free?

WHAT THE HELL???
So essentially several MAJOR stars of the tdf will not be riding this year??? Someone tell me whats goin on? This is like major news that jan won't be in....ivan....who else??
The jan must be absolutely devastated. With LA finally gone he musta thought this would finally be time for him to shine. But I guess not.
How old is he now?

Good points about the mountains and the wide open race.
Can I reiterate again that I don't think they have gotten ALL the dopers out of the field? But they talk like 20 or so are going to be gone by the end of the day. They can't be replaced, either.

I wonder if T-mobile or CSC is looking for some new riders...
Now that I have OLN I won't be able to enjoy a truly competitive TdF. This really sux.

welp, there was that article on cyclingnews.com that whenever the year ends in a 6 there is some sort of drama, some sort of surprise winner, or transfer of the crown to a new rider. maybe this will have something to do with that. we shall see.

Ok between this comment and the one about it being the worst TdF ever I just have to ask why?
Eliminate a bunch of cheaters and to me it sound like it is going to be a MORE competitive race and more interesting to watch.
And to the comment about Disco not controling everything...I am guessing Disco WILL be doing a lot of controling of the pace and I am willing to lay down a couple of bucks that says George wins this year with Basso and Ullrich out.

Well if it's true that everyone cheats but not all have gotten caught yet, then some of the best talent won't be there to compete with the rest of the "cheaters". By the way is it really "cheating" when everyone does it?
Sorry everyone, thread closed...Please continue discussions here:
