I think this year's tour is Euro's to loose.

Unless R600DuraAce enters (and turns it up past 400w). Then it'll be a nail-biter.

Landis or George.

Heck, maybe Tom Boonen has a shot now.

I'd like to see Big George win it. But I'd also be happy if Floyd won it.

Hmmm... I must have missed the part of the media reports where they said they kicked riders out and flattened all the mountains. :) :) :)

Boonen will drop out before the Alps just like last year and make up some lame excuse. When I mentioned this last year a bunch of BF members jumped all over me saying he had an injured knee. So I want to go on record that he did it last year and it was b.s.; and mark my words, he'll do it again, especially if he's not on target and has no stage wins.

As for the overall, I think Landis will win. He'll TT strong and limit losses in the mountains, but not to push it. If he has a bad day he can kick ass in the mountains if there's nothing to loose. If he needs to, he can ride the whole peloton off his wheel to make up any time loss. Generally, he'll ride conservatively, give the yellow jersey away to save his team which is weak, except for Merczx and Hunter. Then he'll regain the yellow jersey by the final TT at the latest to take to Paris.

There's more than one way to win the tour, and I think Landis has some specific plans for himself. Watching him in races this year, I suspect he's got some leg or hip issue that requires him to be so far forward on his TT bike, so he's got to be VERY smart. It seems everyone thinks his old school position is for power and aerodynamics, but I think he's got some other reason to take pressure off his hips and put so much weight on his arms.

Hincapie and most of Discovery will do poorly, compared to what we are used to. They have no leader and Hincapie rides better when that riding is for someone else. But, I doubt they care much, and a break is probably welcome from controlling the whole race for another year. I doubt any of them will be in the top 20. It's really hard for a team to ride in the tour without a clear leader. If you have four riders trying to prove they are worthy in the first TT and mountain stage, then you've taken four riders to their limits instead of one strong leader and three that help that one in the mountains. It won't work.

Levi will be in the top ten, but struggle in the beginning of the Tour.

Zabriskie!

Well, okay, I know he has no chance, but I like Dave.

I think and hope that Landis will take the win, followed by Voigt or Julich(maybe both...how cool would that be?), followed by Hincapie. I really don't see george getting any higher than 3rd place overall though.

R600 is out....They found his dial was labled 400W but due to some outlawed Capacitors his LBS installed without his knowledge, it was actually making closer to 600W.

I would love to see Hincapie...This may be his best and only chance due to who is missing and his age....So I am going with George!

Call me crazy but I think that he may have a slight chance. Team CSC is super strong going into this tour. Just look at this lineup: JULICH, LOMBARDI, O’GRADY, SASTRE, SCHLECK, VANDEVELDE, VOIGT, ZABRISKIE. Who will be the leader? Julich is in 011. Schleck and Vande Velde did well in the Tour de Suisse.

I'm going to be keeping an eye on Landis, Rasmussen and the whole of Team CSC.

Julich sliped my mind. CSC may see who is in a better poisition Voit or Julich. Discovery has a shot of geting 2 riders on the podium.
I'm thinking: Landis
Hincapie
Levi
Julich
Papo

Im not sure about the order yet but I would like to see at least 2 americians on the podium.

Decent picks...I like your 2-3 order BTW. perhaps the best news of all today is the fact that Eddy Mazzoleni is still in the Tour (!).

I think it will be Levi. Unless I'm mistaken, no one from Gerolsteiner was eliminated from the tour. That would have to make him the favorite. Of course, this will also help Disco but I'm not sure they are as clear on a leader.

In any case, as much as I hate to see this happen, it should be an exciting TdF.
