Questions about the taillight?
See www.bullLED.com.
:)

(two people in two days, asking "where'd you get that taillight?!" at stoplights, in broad daylight. I guess it's working. :) I never got this reaction to the NiteRider + Cateye LD1000 combo :))

That looks pretty slick. What settings/configuration do you use?

;)

I usually use a flashing mode that doesn't look too police-like, out of a mild concern that the police might feel I'm stepping on their toes. The double-flash and triple-flash modes are good. Triple-flash looks just like a Godzilla version of a Cateye LD-500. A couple times I've switched it to the police-looking modes for extra-hairy situations.

If you didn't see my pics or video of the light, it utterly dominates a Cateye LD-1000 in terms of power output, and the hotspot is a wide horizontal bar rather than a little circle. Below is a pic of it in sunlight at 200 meters, 4x zoom on the camera:

What sort of battery are you useing to provide the power with out alot of weight?I've temporarily hooked it to a rechargeable 9.6-volt Radio Shack RC-car battery (http://www.radioshack.com/product/index.jsp?productId=2103206&cp=2032056.2032147&parentPage=family), which is a small 1600mAh pack that will run it for 10+ hours on flashing.

Later I may do something fancier, like a Lithium-Ion pack (http://www.batteryspace.com/index.asp?PageAction=VIEWPROD&ProdID=1996) from BatterySpace.com.

I'm hoping to get the state laws changed so I could legally run an amber one on the front of the bike, since front/side threats are always a concern for me, riding in the city a lot. I have an HID headlight but it doesn't show well from a mostly side-on view angle. The Nova is visible from the sides too, since its lens sticks out like that.

Holy that thing is bright. Obviously 4x zoom at 200 metters isnt quite 200 metters but still. Another question how much are they?

Holy that thing is bright. Obviously 4x zoom at 200 metters isnt quite 200 metters but still. Another question how much are they? They're $60 + shipping/handling for the light, and figure $25 for that Radio Shack battery/charger kit plus $4 for a compatible plug to put onto the light. It's not pocket change :( but then again, I paid $60 for my NiteRider blinkie and $40 for my LD-1000, and both of them combined still don't even come close to this setup.

Well i use to be heavy in to rc cars and still have batt packs clear up to 14.4 volts and have chargers as well so that part is covered. 60 bucks for the unit it self isnt all that bad. Once im cought up on some bills and have some reserve cash squirled away im gona make my self some turn signals and a break light system for my bike. Easy enough to do with a little know how. Once i make it maybe ill post a how to its all realy simple motor cycle blinker box 3 way slider switch 6 prong type 2 terminals for power in 4 for out or rocker switch of same design.
For breaks a simple push button acuated by break lever. Whats funny is i did this on a 1/5 scale rc car some time ago. Never did get around to finishing the body before i gout out of the hobby.
Think bikes can be expensive try getting in to serious rc car and plane gear.

I think at one point i had over 4500 dolors spent on all used gear and countless 100s of hours build time on all the planes cars etc. I had a sail plane with a nearly 12 foot wing span powed by a large electric motor to get it air born. Value of it all new for the plane kit it self was $680 thats not countign the $2000 transmiter and reciever. Lucky for me i didnt pay that much for my gear infact most of it i got free and by working it off. My investment was right around 4500 bucks over 3 years.

So needless to say i have some tiny itsy bitsy small amount of electronic eperiance (not counting 14 years of computer hardware and software experiance ....) Sad part is i cant find a job doing this stuff for a living :\

I request no demand a pick of that bike from the side :)

I request no demand a pick of that bike from the side :)Give me about 20 minutes, I ran the batteries dead on my Canon :)

Oh, and if you want to do turn signals, good news:

1) the Novas remember the last mode you used. So just get amber ones and set them for the 75Hz single-flash mode, and no need for any external flasher circuit! :)

2) they have a sync wire so you can have front + rear (if you want) and they'll flash in sync with eachother. Or out-of-sync if you prefer.

3) they're a total fit to your BF user name too :D

heheh and every other forum username infact. Do a search on google for novaflare about 90% of the results are me prob about 50% of the rest are those who copid my nick after i started useing it (lets just say i had a little net war with a few chat room/forum trolls in the pasti won but their posts still exist here and there lol). I dont get to use nova very much on forums always seems to be taken (damn popular nick i guess.)

As for useign the novas for it na you think those suckers are bright i can put togather a led box that will blind you :) Would cost more but for turn signals ill make them my self as i can get the exact shape size etc that i want. Im thining double row of 6 leds each pr signal in a slight zigzag patern should do quite nicly. mounted with one edge flush to my rack or a little prowd of it. For the front signals ill mount those along the fork edge 12 leds same as back but single row on flexable circuit tape.

And if i start riding at night ill add side marker type lights to chain stays and forks headlight ill buy same for tail light but make a seperate small break light as described earlyer.

Id say i can make the enitre system and come it at 1/4 pound or less not counting battery.

Ok, here are a couple side pics of Ye Olde Cannondale:

It's a mix of various stuff. I used a little flash on one pic to highlight the reflective tape on the fenders & crank a bit.

The sticker job on the fenders looks pretty cool realy. Question did your tx00 have down tube shifters originally? I have a 1987 model (click link in sig)
