General Cycling Discussion - GROSS: Does anyone else get "pimples" on their thighs?
Bikeforums.net is a forum about nothing but bikes. Our community can help you find information about hard-to-find and localized information like bicycle tours, specialties like where in your area to have your recumbent bike serviced, or what are the best bicycle tires and seats for the activities you use your bike for.

The title kind of says it all.
The more I run or bike, the more I get these small raised welts of irritation on the top of my thighs. Maybe one or two a week. They're almost like pimples or whiteheads. Reason suggests they may arise from my loose shorts rubbing against my thighs, but I'm not so sure.
Does anyone else experience this? What do you do to prevent them? I hate these things -- they're disgusting. http://www.dietrologia.net/emoticons/emot-argh.gif
Sounds like you have clogged pores or ingrown hairs due to sweating. Try cleaning the affected area with rubbing alcohol to unclog the pores.

Don't wear whatever shorts you've been wearing. Get some Lycra.

I never had that problem from crappy shorts, but I did end up with non-cancerous lumps on my balls from a combonation of a seat with crushed rails and cheap shorts. Bottom line is, invest in good shorts.

Once, after a 7 day tour where I only brought two pairs of shorts and nothing to wash them with, I got a yeast infection on the inside of my thighs. No joke (I'm male). Nothing worked to get rid of it until my sister-in-law, a nurse, suggested using a feminine cream (Monistat). It went away after a day or two.

Exfoliate and, as mentioned above, clean with alcohol.
