Sorry to offend you by my choice of bike, *******. Paying more than twice as much for the Tricoss Comp, though it is a sexy bike, wasn't what I wanted. The components on the Volpe work just fine. Now, the chain, seatpost and saddle are ****ty, but after getting a new chain for free and replacing the seatpost and saddle I've still paid less than half of what I would have for a Tricross Comp. If I ever actually start riding cyclocross, maybe I'll look at a Tricross, but for riding around the city, it's too expensive (and looks it) to just leave locked up outside.

An '03 Volpe was my first real bike.

Although I think borrachobandito's comment was pretty crass, it does carry some weight.

Every single component except for the deraillers (with major maintenance) and cranks had to be changed out over its 3 year lifespan.

Yes, lifespan - only 3 years. The drive side dropout cracked at the chainstay - never wrecked.

I break lots of bikes though (this was my 4th frame - 2 italians, a Mainstreet pedicab frame, and the taiwanese Volpe). I was pretty happy with it for the price. It got me started into cycling - and car-freeness. Hopefully, yours will last longer than mine. Congrats.

There's a ten year warranty on that frame. You should have taken it back to the LBS and demanded a free replacement.

yeah, haven't ridden it enough yet. tomorrow is the big long test run. i can already tell the saddle could be a quick switch out. but still, i'm stoked as a muufaaa. like whoa. it's so nice. like so nice.
