Anyone know of somewhere I could learn to weld in exchange for cleaning up shop, baking cookies, dating the boss's daughter, or something other than lots of money. A frame builder would be pretty ideal since I eventually want to build myself a 29er pickup truck of a bike for myself. Looking for somewhere in the philadelphia area. My dad's friend runs an airplane repair shop and he'd teach me but that would require me driving 3 hours every lesson.

thanks

You're just hanging around with the wrong crowd. Pal up to some gear heads that build hot rods, they'd probably teach 'ya for a case of beer. The room mate of a guy I used to ride with said he'd teach me ... said "go to the library, read some books, and then come back". Never had the time to follow up.

Check with Steve Bilenky (somewhere in Philadelphia) or Harry Havnoonian (in Media?).
