General Cycling Discussion - Can you spot the discrepancy

Bikeforums.net is a forum about nothing but bikes. Our community can help you find information about hard-to-find and localized information like bicycle tours, specialties like where in your area to have your recumbent bike serviced, or what are the best bicycle tires and seats for the activities you use your bike for.

The poster used a stock photo of a new one from the Specialized website with two photos of the old bike that he has. No way it's worth US$100.

Actually the one listed looks more like a BMX/Single speed than a MTB, the other picture is a multi speed and has a suspended front end. The new one might be worth $300. The old one?

The pictures of the bike are from more than two years ago. Wonder how it looks now.
There's no way that bike is 20 foot. I don't care what the add says...

Nah I think it is just the color of the seat against the background, either that, or they can't photo shop worth a crap.

Haven't seen the advert- but Buyer Beware is the motto for buying anything, from any-one. I saw a Kona Stinky advertised recently and I knew the seller. Kona Stinky is a known "Good" bike and this one, from the advert- has had a couple of upgrades, is only a year old and is half retail price. This bike has had "Upgrades"- if you can call putting an RST triple crown fork on it an upgrade- in place of the Bombers from original- The bike has been hacked round the streets with no maintenance for at least 2 years- but you tell the difference between the 2005/4 models, drive chain still works but only just with about every part just about to give way and the wheels have been knocked out of shape so many times- they will not come true and need replacing for safety let alone ridability.
Daft thing is the first person to see the bike bought it. Motto is- if you have something that has a good name- like Kona or Specialised- advertise it for a high price because some mug will buy it.
