Foo - I know this the lamest thing to gripe about, but

Bikeforums.net is a forum about nothing but bikes. Our community can help you find information about hard-to-find and localized information like bicycle tours, specialties like where in your area to have your recumbent bike serviced, or what are the best bicycle tires and seats for the activities you use your bike for.

christ, 12 items or less means 12 items or less, not 20, not 30, but 12. The past 5 or 6 times I've been to the store to pick something up, there's someone ahead of me with a crap load of items in 12 items or less line.
Idea: Have the cash register automatically charge people $0.50 extra for each item over the limit.
I'm not annoyed that it's holding up the line, but the fact that its just incondsiderate. Just like the a-hole who passes you on the right in a exit/entrance lane that's gonna merge in 300 feet, sure they only made my commute 3 seconds longer cause everyone's gotta slow down to let them merge, but christ, everyday, there's some a-hole, or more likely 20, doing it.
If you elect me governor, I promise to put to end to incondsiderate a-holes, and send them all back to New York.
God, why do I have work tomorrow?

Actually, I've always wondered if I get four cans of soup and they're on special for four cans for a dollar, is that one thing or four things?

If I am elected governor, I will pass a law that if you rear end someone on the interstate, you lose your license for a year.

So its 12 swipes then. Settled.
If I'm elected Governor, I'm making a law requiring all Type A's to listen to Happy Music on their drive into work everyday.
I gotta agree with you Jerseybest. but I tend to get a bit vocal about it to the offending a-hole. It's amazing the variety of excuses and justifications I get. My fav is when people have half a freakin shopping cart, man do I tear them a new one!
Just lkie with everything else "The rules are for everyone else, they don't apply to ME!"

inconsidarate people are just that. "inconsiderate" on the flip coin, I once thought I had twelve items and the guy was ringing in all twelve, I didnt realised I had thirteen, at the thirteen and very last one, he said "you have thirteen! take all your stuff and go to the other check out counter!" and proceeded to ask for a manager to come and void all of my transactions..I felt like a criminal! it was insane! I sure didnt go anywhere once the manager got there! she appologised for him and I offered to let go of the thirteen item, she gladly took the item and sent the guy home!
I was in a line up and a guy ahead of me checked way more than 8 items and I said "Thats more than 8 items" so he jerked his head towards his wife and said "yeah, well, it's two people". However they hadn't checked it through as two orders. The wife was avoiding eye contact with us, so I should have said "Ah, she's just pretending she's not with you...I so get that."

Don't get the grammar snobs in on this or they'll insist on "12 items or fewer" BTW, New York was just found to be the friendliest city in the US according to some survey.

Eh, thats what the huge sign above the lane says as well as the light above the cashier.
BTW, New York was just found to be the friendliest city in the US according to some survey.
Who ever conducted the survey must have been on crack.

New Jersey is closed for business. Please refrain from spreading its ONLY export - ill will - until such time as it reopens.

Best Andy Rooney voice impression: "Did you ever notice..."
Did you ever notice how the big grocery chains perfectly
synchronize the number of checkout cashiers, so that you
allways have to wait in line...whether it's 2 pm or 2 am?

"Whoa-oh-oh
Sign, sign, everywhere a sign
Blockin' out the scenery, breakin' my mind
Do this, don't do that, can't you read the sign?
And the sign said anybody caught trespassin' would be shot on sight
So I jumped on the fence and-a yelled at the house, "Hey! What gives you the right?"
"To put up a fence to keep me out or to keep mother nature in"
"If God was here he'd tell you to your face, Man, you're some kinda sinner"
Sign, sign, everywhere a sign
Sign
Sign, sign"

If it was the same recent survey I saw it was not the friendliest U.S. city. It was the friendliest out of abotu 20 where they did a 'study' based on 3 or 4 actions. One was opening a door for someone. One other was checkout clerks saying somethnig like 'thank you'. A very culturally biased 'study'. And New York was the ONLY U.S. city included. Little surprise that they did the best job of conforming to U.S. ideas op propriety.
I hate when I'm coming off the bay bridge, and tons of people stay in the left lane just so they can get ahead, knowing full well they want to be in the right lane. Then after they pass everyone and the traffic they get over at the last second into the right lane. Ack, that makes me mad.
