Hi,

i am looking for a cheap replacement set of forks for my Trek 4100 (using the stock isync). i have seen some 2nd hand Manitou Elite forks that have come straight off a rockhopper (was upgraded pretty much from new) and feel these will be a 1/2 decent replacement for not a lot of cash...

What i need to know are - do the measurements make much difference? The Manitou have 100mm travel where the isync have 70mm. Also the steerer is 185 mm, now i have measured from the top of the forks to the bottom of my headset (stem) and thats 210mm but that includes top and bottom bearings (20mm) and it looks like 3 spacers totalling 40mm - can i remove these? if so will the 185mm steerer work on my bike?

thanks for any ideas
